Default Perth Highschools: Newman or Sacred Heart

Just wondering if any Perthies have any feedback on either of these schools.

We are considering staying long term so need to start thinking about this stuff. We do prefer Catholic schools (I know that's not everyone's choice, each to their own). Don't want to be going to Claremont each day so John xx(whatever) isn't really a consideration.

Wondering about academics but that isn't the deciding factor.

I would prefer a school where the whole person is nurtured - ie, you walk out of year 12 being the best, kindest, well-rounded person that you can be.

    Anyone have any feedback?
@Sonja I think you're not too far iirc from both of these schools, do you know anything about either of them?

    Thanks in advance

Default Perth Highschools: Newman or Sacred Heart

Hi @misho DH's cousins kids went to sacred heart and loved it. Can't really comment on Newman. I do know they are both incredibly difficult to get into unless your kids attend a feeder catholic school.

    Thank you @Sonja. Appreciate it!

We'd be at a catholic primary school so that wouldn't be an issue, just might be on the wrong side of karrinyup road to get into sacred heart, but it would be my preference.

I think Newman might be too 'sporty' for my kids as they don't really excel at that sort of stuff and I don't want them to feel out of place.

The kids I know at Newman are not even slightly sporty so I don't know about that reputation.

Oh ok, interesting. I was under the impression that it was, but I'll have to check that out. Admittedly the family that we know how go there is sports mad so they're always going to talk that side up.

I've also heard sacred heart called the JTC of the north. It seems preferred over Newman. But this is all second hand to me as we're not going to either school.

    Thanks.

It's a lovely school driving past, no schools like that in Sydney, I only wish I could have gone to a school like that. Will have to go to the open day in a months time. Thanks for the info.
