Default Would sent quick explanation email

my husband is from OS, still with lots of family and friends over there.

We were invited to a family wedding at the beginning of the year but couldn't make it due to a few reasons:

financially it was over 2k in flights alone, accommodation was ridiculous as it was school holidays, we had some major car repairs and I'm on part pay maternity

DH had recently had 2 months off so wouldn't have got more time off work ( would have needed 4 days )

DD2 was less than 4 months old so limited immunisation and not ready to leave her.

We did get a save the date when I was pregnant but all those items ( besides the car) was still relevant

We've been invited to his friend (significant) bday soon, his mother has paid for flights for the weekend as dh own birthday gift ( family member on fathers side) and we've cashed in FF points for accomodation ( which is now cheap, didn't have enough points earlier) the girls are older and will stay with grandparents and Dh only needs 1 day off work.

So long story short would you send a quick email saying we are coming over for xx bday as DH pressie.
They are from s small town so it will get back that we came over

Yes and I would offer to take the bride and groom out to dinner to celebrate their nuptials

Absolutley would. If they are people you care about I'm not sure why it's even a question? It's just something I would automatically do.

Yes, this is what we have done for big events we have missed due to being overseas/unable to travel.
