    I love my electric blanket. I put it on low an hour or two before we go to bed, and never get cold at night.

    I also bought cheap carpet snakes to block drafts coming in from under the external doors, and I draw the blinds and curtains in Winter after lunch time. I keep them open in the morning though, so make the most of the morning sun's warmth.

    Fleecy sheets (as opposed to cotton) make a big difference to the warmth of your bed, as will proper flannel jammies. If you can get rugs onto wooden floorboards it makes a big difference too.

    I think the eletrical convection panels without a fan are meant to be relatively ecconomial. Nobo is abrand that cones to mind. The Rolls-Royce of them. Think it has infa read heating with a micro thermastat. (I've never lashed out on one of them)

    The electric panel heaters there was a thread about hem last year I think.

    Thermals.

    How long do you plan on staying in your house? Does is have a heat pump/split? Maybe ask land lord to provide one for rental increase of $3 or something.
