    Default C-section at Sandringham hospital

Hi, I'm booked into Sandy. After a very difficult first birth I'll be having a c-section and at a recent visit the OB said it was 'pot luck' who you get to do the procedure and how much experience they have.
Can anyone please share their experiences with caesarian birth in particular? Lots of the discussion is around natural birth and the midwives. They do seem very lovely there but I'm keen to hear about the doctors and your experience.
Thanks so much. Feeling a bit anxious...

Hi Eleni2, did you want to know about Caesars in general or just at Sandringham?

Your OB is right about the doctor doing the caesar, it'll just be who's rostered on for the day. Sandringham being a public hospital is a teaching hospital so there will be a resident (junior doctor) assisting or if they're experienced they may do parts of the Caesar but there will always be a senior registrar or consultant with them and scrubbed in at all times.

This happens in all public hospitals everyday of the week and is very safe, please try not to worry
