@VioletMay, from what I recall when I was diagnosed MTHFR means you don't obsorb follate with is a part of the vitamin B family. You need to take an active form of follate thats already broken down, methylfolate plus vit b6 and b 12 to help with obsorbtion.
"Homo" means you have 2 copies of the mutation gene...so you can thank both parents for that! When you have 2 copies I think it means your blood is thicker or prone to clotting, therefore at risk of DVT, stroke, heart disease etc

@VioletMay Miss Sagi has pretty much covered it... Folic Acid is synthetic and having the MTHFR mutation means we can't process it.

So we need to take methylated folate, essentially a "pre chewed" if you like form of folate so our bodies absorb it. I take Thorne pre natal and extra folate from solgar brand, bought from iherb.

It's been over a year since I was diagnosed originally it was hard to find pre natal without folic acid which is why I've just bought from iherb but I think more practicners are selling some brands now but you'll have to ring around naturopaths etc... Normal chemist brands don't (again unless it's changed I haven't looked for a while)

MTHFR can be linked to a few things like miscarriages, depression, even blood clots which all ticked boxes for me

    Default hi guys

so far i had 3 cycles all failed, 2 FET all failed. I am with dr. m for my last cycle and 2 fets. Done LIT twice and intralipids with all other meds claxane, b6,b12,folate etc. I was diagnose with heterozygous MHFR, CD56 NK cells 40.6% and also got pco on my left ovary, HLA match.

Just had a result of my last FET and it was negative. I am gonna see DR.M again but I want to ask if somebody in here has the same diagnosis and got pregnant eventually. I am now on my 36yrs of age and afraid that it will be too late for me. Thanks girls

@Miss Sagi @Tanej78 - thank you both very much for the information. I tick all of those boxes.

It explains a lot... I have suffered recurrent miscarriages, last one being in 2nd trimester and although I had my dd successfully in 2015 there was a blood clot in the uterus in the first Tri and I developed preeclampsia at the end just prior to my csection and my daughter was born with an unexpected low birth weight.
I also suffered dissected carotid artery and stroke in 2012 and no cause found, just theories.

Can detox, diet and the right supplements help to make this gene work and help with TTC and prevent miscarriages??????

I am in Melbourne and couldn't find anyone here so have an over the phone consultation with MTHFR Support in Sydney tomorrow.

Default High Natural Killer Cells #8

@VioletMay I'm in Melbourne and saw a naturopath in moonee ponds who was great and explained a lot about it... She was lovely and didn't push supplements on me like others have in the past (I had already purchased) was very patient and spent a lot of time with me. I've only seen her the once but wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend. http://www.nurturenaturopathy.com.au/

@hancamp I truly believe there is also an element of luck and timing... I'm 38 this month, been on a journey of 9 years... Last year I had 5 transfers no luck and using similar protocols... Last 2 same protocols as my current cycle and I'm 12w4d

This was a PGD normal blast last one left from last years last cycle.

Frame of mind has also helped a lot too... I'm in a much better place this year lost some weight etc...

We just have to keep trying and keep positive, I totally understand what your feeling at the moment and currently I still feel very surreal going for my 12w scan tomorrow... Big hugs to you but know it can happen an will happen xx

@VioletMay, have you had a phone consult with Dr M? Its likely you have at least another immune issue as they say you have at least 2 issues when you have something. He is a Reproductive Immunoligist and this is what he specialises in.
