Late to the party here but I would be annoyed too.
I would be annoyed because the exact thing I'd said I didn't want to happen was what ended up happening. I'd probably be annoyed because deep down I suspected this would end up happening which is why I had to express in the first place that I didn't want to end up doing the thing everyone ended up doing. Then I'd be annoyed in the heat and tense because it would be hard to entertain the kids. I'd also probably feel annoyed that I felt unheard/unvalued because my wishes were being ignored.
It's not about how much shade trees provide, or how much I could go with the flow, it's about being shoved into a situation that I expressly stated (and I assume it was agreed) that I didn't want to be in.
Yeah, sure, it's better in the long run if you can change your mindset and try and make the best of it, but sometimes we just get ****ty and that can take over. Especially in 36 degree weather in Queensland.
