    Hi Erin
I would say really with flights included that doing a donation in Oz or o/s probably works out to the same. I am very involved with the EDA group. I have also had some offers from egg donors.

Oh, well that's great. Please don't think I'm trying to sway you! Just wanted to let you know of other options as I think the number of people looking for donors outweighs the number of donors here.

It's awesome that you've had offers already.

I've only just seen this post not your previous ones, but there are some awesome clinics in Greece (and there are dodgy clinics everywhere - only30% of Australian clinics actually have a live birth rate), you just need to research. Fertility Friends is a UK website with lots of info about European clinics including Greece. Personally I like Serum IVF in Athens, but Embryoland also has quite a following in Australia.

Depends which clinic you go to (see my edit above) if it was Embio I'm not surprised - never read anything good about them. My son was conceived from my first trip to Serum. If you look at the Egg Donation in Greece thread you'll find a swag of ladies who conceived first time, so I'd be cautious about writing off all the clinics in an entire country ;-). But this caper is definitely one of those 'each to their own' things, and you don't seem comfortable with Greece, so good luck with your journey wherever it leads you, may it be successful and short!!!

Hi lissimo I just wanted to wish you all the very best with your donor journey - it is a very personal decision whichever path you choose... but I just wanted to second what @MrsErinR has said about South Africa. I decided to move to donor eggs in October last year following a miscarriage with my own eggs and here I am 5 or so months later and just over 7 weeks pregnant after my 1st cycle with Cape Fertility Centre in SA - so things can happen very quickly. All up the cycle cost around $16000-$17000 including flights, accomm, hire car, spending money etc. We also had a fantastic holiday in a very special place - a holiday that my DH and I both really needed after 5 grueling years of IVF with my own eggs. We also have 6 blastocysts on ice and we hope, all going well with my current pregnancy, to be back in Cape Town next year for a sibling with our remaining embryos - so at this point in time we couldn't be happier with how things have gone. I also have to say that CFC was fantastic and my Fertility Specialist, Dr Matebese, was by far and away that best and most caring, warm and sincere FS I've had (and I've had 3 Aussie ones). The lines of communication with her were always open and she would respond directly and comprehensively via email when I had any questions which is a far cry from my experience in Australia where my FS was basically only available by appointment at $180 a time. To be honest I felt my Australian clinic was much more of a money making enterprise than CFC in Cape Town. Anyhoo... just thought I'd stop by and share my experience... Best of luck to you on your journey whatever you decide to do. FFxx

    Default hiya

So which are the good clinics in Greece and SA? Yes i do agree there are some dodgy FS's in Melbourne, my last clinic was Monash and I found the nurses made all the decisions. Dr Nick at Monash promotes woman to go to Greece and I have heard some horror stories from his clinic.
I would be concerned as I am single if I was to get many embies that if i got preg I wouldnt be able to afford going over a 2nd time. Don't they send the embies back to Oz?

For SA, pretty much everyone seems to go to Cape Fertility Clinic (CFC) in Cape Town. I know of a few who've gone elsewhere but not many.

You can't bring the embryos back to Australia as the donors are anonymous and that's not allowed under Australian Law.

Yep! It's jus mates clinic and while I'm sure the science is probably fine, the patient service at Genesis is woeful! If your friends went there then I'm really sympathetic to their story, they make you stay there 3 weeks as I'm sure you know and that makes it all very expensive. The better clinics are. Serum IVF, Embryoland and Iakentro.
