Default Vasectomy in a public hospital.

My DH is getting it done tomorrow morning and I'm sure the surgeon will answer any questions that we have but I just wanted to ask those who have had partners go through it or have had it done themselves (obviously for the males on the forum).

What was recovery like at the hospital/how long were you waiting around?
What was recovery like in the days after, is there anything I should get to help him?
How long until you could have s.e.x?

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

    TIA

My husband had it done at the family planning clinic, it took about 45 mins in total, he was a bit sore and bruised after the local and Valium shot wore off but other than that he was fine. No heavy lifting for a few days and back to normal. He wanted to test out the plumbing the next day lol, just make sure you are still using some form of protection as sperm will still be in his tubes.
Good luck and tell him not to worry!

Curious to any responses. DH went to the GP for a referral and will be getting it done through the family planning clinic, just waiting for them to contact us.

Default Vasectomy in a public hospital.

Thanks for your reply. I'm pretty sure he is going under as the paperwork says nil by mouth after midnight tonight so I'm guessing there will be a few hours in recovery for him. He has the rest of the week off so will get plenty of rest. Yes, will be making sure we are still being careful, the surgeon said at his first appointment that they test after 20 ejaculations and all is usually clear then.

Eta: I think because it is getting done at the public hospital (hospital protocol) is why he is going under. If we went privately with the same surgeon, then he could do it in his rooms at the private hospital only using local.

DP had it done under a general too. Apparently its the preference of the doctor, some do local, some do general.
I dropped him off in the morning and he was home by 2
