    Default Coping with going overdue

This is a good read OP http://midwifethinking.com/2010/09/1...lancing-risks/
It does, but you don't deny the risks of one to prove a point with another. Induction can often be necessary, yes sometimes it's not but it is often a necessary tool in birth where the benefits outweigh the risks.

Anyways, this isn't the thread for this type of discussion I don't think. Sunnygirl obviously is under the care of a good dr.

When u know someone who wasn't informed that she was older and thus higher risk and didn't get to see an ob as public and the midwives went with the Std wait until 42 w b4 get to see an ob u might have diff opinion. ( too late when saw ob) Obviously where uve seen an ob it's fine discussed individual circumstances, but many midwives are experienced in 'normal' births and some get carried away keeping things normal and don't Id when there's a diff to the rules.....
    Not all obviously....

Hi Sunnygirl. Hoping your beautiful baby comes tonight. Do what feels right to you but don't be afraid of induction. 2 lovely babies and 2 lovely births by induction for me.

Thanks. Amazing how quick a thread gets out of hand! Only reason I am hesitant to induce is due to previous C (it does increase risks etc). But I would consider it if my OB suggested it was the safest option, it's just not something I want to consider until I have to, if I have to.

For now I'm not reading into or looking at options as there is no need to. I'm 2 days over, chances are extremely good that Bub will arrive within the week. Last pregnancy my midwives told me I wasn't 'overdue' until 40 + 5 as that was their belief of the average gestation length.

What I need right now is to focus on being calm and reducing stress so that Bub knows it's safe to arrive into this world.

Thanks everyone for those that missed it I gave birth on Friday night to little Xavier Luke who must have been waiting to crash daddy's birthday. DH had a birthday he will never forget!

I went into labor at 40+2 naturally after I lost my mucus plug and hind waters and had a successful VBAC 5hrs 40 mins of established labor, with a little suction help as my stubborn bubba got his head stuck posterior deep in my pelvis. Really happy with the outcome despite this last minute assistance from the OB, I had been fully dilated and pushing uncontrollably for 3 hrs so I was so glad to get him out safely 😊

Thanks for all your words of encouragement! In the end he came when he was ready!
