Default Sore throat remedies - help!

My throat is killing me. apart from Betadine or throatwash to gargle, what else helps? Honey didn't do anything.

Dissolve salt in some warm water and gargle with it. It won't necessarily ease pain BUT it will help fight whatever is causing the sore throat.

As for pain have you tried a warm lemon and honey drink? Juice a lemon add warm water (not boiling as it will destroy the vitamin C), add honey to taste then sip slowly.

    Hope it gets better soon

Difflam throat spray and lozenges with antiseptic plus ibuprofen.
Alternate gargling with betadine and hot, salt water.
Drink ice water and eat ice blocks - crush them if you have to.
I feel for you, I get the most dreadful tonsillitis semi-regularly.

If all else fails...i know someone who swears by gargling full strength Coke. He reckons it strips the throat. I've never tried it though!

My friends mother showed me this in primary school, it works for me but I am pretty sure it says not to on the bottle. You take pure tea tree oil on a cotton bud and swipe it across the back of your throat (back so far you nearly gag). It tastes horrible for a few minutes but you must not drink anything for at least 10 mins. It is instant relief. She told me that the tea tree oil is a really powerful anti-bacterial and kills the germs making your throat sore.

Gargle with warm vinegar. Tastes terrible but does the trick.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, i'll give them a try, something is bound to work. it's quite odd for me to have such a sore throat (i don't have tonsils so can rule that out) in this hot weather.. lol
