    Default Rib pain in pregnancy

I know rib pain in pregnancy is fairly common due to a growing uterus and baby kicking but where I am experiencing the pain is pretty random and I was wondering if anybody had anything similar. The pain is on my far left side, kind of directly under my armpit and to the left of my breast, not in the front above the baby where I read seems to be the most common place. It's painful enough that I have to hold it when I cough or sneeze. Has anybody had pain in a similar area while pregnant?

Yep, I did too with dd. I remember it was so painful I rang the doctor as it hurt to do anything. I was told mine was normal. It lasted for about a good week for me before the pain went away.

If you're not sure I'd run it by your doctor or midwife just to be on the safe side.

Hopefully the pain goes away for you soon as it's really not fun.

I'm actually relieved to read this as I assumed the pain would be there the rest of my pregnancy so to read that it may only be a week is promising! I'll give it a week and then consider seeing the GP, or I see the OB on the 1st.

I had it too and it stayed my pregnancy and started to improve after the birth. I couldn't sleep on left side. Didn't think it was a "thing" with pregnancy as it was high. But it felt like a broken rib!

Yes I experienced this with DS too and I recall it being VERY painful. The extreme pain did settle after a short time like pp mentioned and just had small periods of mild discomfort after that. I don't recall it being the entire pregnancy!! Hope it passes for you quickly HGL.

It would be nerve/ligament pain from the position of something (uterus/baby). I would assume it would go away once everything moves a little.

    The joys of pregnancy!
