@tjuls thanks for the tips! The nurse warned me the second injections are thicker and more painful. Before starting injecting I was extremely anxious about doing it and now I look forward to doing it but I am nervous about the second lot of injections.
@SL1009 I am at Sydney, how about you? We live in Mona Vale and it's a bit of a hike to the city especially during peak hour, so I'll be taking quite a bit of time off work this week to make the appointments. Wish there was somewhere closer to get scans and ultrasounds. Oh well I'm hoping it will all be worth it as if successful on this cycle we will have a little Christmas Bub!
I'm in agreeance with the nurses too waiting and taking each day as it comes because there's so many varying factors and have to wait for each step of the way. But I'm feeling so excited that something is happening we've been TTC for 3 years.
Thanks ladies for sharing your valuable knowledge. Hope you have a relaxing and restful evening xx

@SL1009 good luck for tomorrow! I love that there are new members joining all the time its great to see this forum is great for support. Our plane leaves Thursday to go to Sydney we are so keen! @tjuls i didnt manage to get the other appointments in one go however i a going to my GP tomorrow and i will get her to fax all test results along with a letter I've written explaining the situation and hoping they can make something happen for us, otherwise i guess we will just have to make alot of trips down. It is actually quite surprising to know that Primary IVF is not well known up here in Fn QLD, im not sure why its such a great service

Default What is average amount of follies?

When I went for my first scan last Friday there were 10 follicles on my right side and 9 on my left. What is the average? I have PCOS so I'm just a bit concerned about OHSS.

Glad you are feeling more positive @ABG79 I was on puregon starting on Wednesday, then started orgalutran on Sunday with puregon, and triggered on Wednesday. No transfer as it was freeze all. Everyone is different though. They only know when they see blood test and scan results. In my case I was sure I'd have another scan but got the call on Wednesday afternoon to trigger for transfer Friday. It does happen very quickly!

I thought it was a good thing at the time not knowing how many days injections would be required for, and just to take one day at a time. Orgalutran is fine. Doesn't hurt really either, just take it out of fridge half an hour beforehand, pinch, push it in and inject slowly. I made the mistake once of prickling myself with needle as I was so nervous about it but it gets easier. Then give yourself a treat afterwards!

I had 20 follicles each side, i have some pcos symptoms but not others, so this is more than usual and everyones different. They try to avoid overstimulation, by giving lower doses of the meds. They only need good quality eggs and ultimately one embryo, so more follicles isn't better.

@SL1009 I noticed your son's birthday in your signature so was going to say congratulations!! Good luck tomorrow!!! Will be thinking of you

@StephyG hope you have a good trip to Sydney this week and they can help you out with appointments.

Just something related to the IVF, ive been talking to a woman on facebook about her experience at Primary. She asked to have two embryos transferred and they said yes. it was her first IVF cycle at Primary and she was 39 had pcos and now has two gorgeous baby girls How lucky! do you think they did a transfer of two because of age? or just because they requested?

I don't know what primary's policy on transferring two embryos is, but I would guess it would be age plus medical history. Had she had ivf with another provider before going to primary? As I understand it there are good reasons why they only transfer one embryo as there are more risks with multiple transfers, and there is still the chance that a single embryo can result in twins..

Thanks for all your well wishes girls!

@ABG79 my nurse told me between 5-15 was average follicle numbers...but just because you have 19 doesn't mean you could be at risk of over stimulating..I'm sure the nurses are tracking your every test!

Thanks for the birthday wishes for my son @RainbowLorikeet I can't believe he is 3 already!! What a journey! He was our 4th round lucky!!

@StephyG Re transferring 2 embryos, Primary prefer not to, but are open to it in certain situations. We have always transferred 2 in the last if we had them (our son was the product of transferred). Last round we did, we only had 1 embie that didn't take. We spoke to the specialist about it in our initial consult and she said that given its our 6th round, she MAY be open to a 3 day transfer with 2 embies if we have low numbers, but she didn't seem keen! We'll see what happens during the week I guess and go from there x
