Default Any experiences with Primary Ivf? #2

We were the same too @sl009, I wasn't expecting BUPA to cover IVF either as we only have the basic corporate package but had a pleasant surprise on EPU day when they said that BUPA was covering some of it, I think ours was only $380 too so maybe they put the procedure through as something not IVF specific (not sure how!) but whatever primary IVF did did the trick! You could still be pleasantly surprised on EPU day 😉 Good Luck for tomorrow!!!

Hi @ABG79Welcome!! The first cycle is definitely the hardest to keep your emotions in check! Just try to stay positive and know that you are doing everything you can!! How's everything looking so far? When are you expecting to do ET?x

I definitely won't be getting a pleasant surprise from my private health fund @tjuls @MissTilly that lucky BUPA did that for you girls! $600 for us...but at least it's only payable once. When I did IVF through a private specialist, we paid excess (when WERE covered) for EPU and for ET!

Sorry for taking up the thread ladies! After a crazy busy week my head can't contain that much information so I replied to posts instead of doing one big one!!

It looks like we have 6 follies on board, all roughly the same size based on my scan from Friday. I did my trigger last night at 9pm and I'm in for EPU tomorrow morning! Excited and also terrified of the outcome. Having tried Elonva for the first time and being on oragultran and a higher dose of puregon I was really hoping to get more eggs in my basket so to speak!!! I have to remember quality over quantity and that we only need 1 good one to make a baby! We have never had a day 5 blasty before and I'm thinking that we may have to do a day 3 ET again but I could also be surprised too!! Last cycle we did nearly 2 years ago and we only got one embryo from 5 eggs. Since then we've been seeing a naturopath to work on quality of sperm/eggs so in really hoping and praying that it's made all the difference! I put on a lot of weight when I was pregnant with my son and I have probably lost at least 15kg since then too which will hopefully play a part too!

Feeling a lot more relaxed now my son's birthday week and party is done and looking forward to lots of rest tomorrow!! We're going 'big boy' bed shopping this afternoon! I really wanted to have my DS's big boy room done by his third birthday but hubby refused but is now slowly coming around! The first step is a bed and then hopefully with this cycle will come good news and I can finally do up his new room and convert his room back into nursery mode!!

Sorry for the essay and taking up the thread again! Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday! Will check in tomorrow and let you know the outcome

    Xx

Hi @SL1009 I'm feeling so much more positive today - making sure I'm eating healthy, meditation and going to Yoga is making a difference. I've been so teary and fragile but today feeling like I'm getting back to hormonal. Today is day 7 using Gonal-f, had BT and monitoring scan on Friday with 19 follicles around 10mm in size (think that's what she said) and going back tomorrow for 2nd scan and BT. I'm not sure of what the timeline is and what happens next the nurse said to me just to relax and take everything one step at a time. Do u know roughly when I can expect egg transfer and then implant? Xx

Thanks @RainbowLorikeet I'm feeling heaps better today. I was so overwhelmed with a few other things I've had to deal with and was super stressed, but today I'm feeling excited and positive. Its day 6 of the Gonul-F injections which haven't been too bad. The nurse said to me the second lot of injections will be more painful, so im nervous about that.
Can anyone explain to me what the timeline (roughly) will be? I had my first BT and scan done last Friday and going back tomorrow (Monday) for 2nd BT and scan to check the size of the follicles. What happens next? When do I commence Orgalutran injections? Egg Transfer? Implantation? How long do I inject for?
I feel so relieved that I found you ladies on this forum.
Looking forward to chatting to you all more frequently and sharing your stories.
    xx

@SL1009 I can't help but think of @Billie2 every time elonva is mentioned. Her and @Danymatthew (?) Were both on elonva and both had 6 follies at the last BT and Scan.

I'm hoping u have a different outcome as Billie2 of course and the work with the naturopath pays off.
What time is ur EPU tomorrow? @ABG79- 19 follies?! Wow!!
I agree with the nurses..I've tried to take it all one day at a time and it's much easier to cope. If u want a rough idea of when EPU and transfer is, I say u will have another BT and Scan done on wed and maybe even a third on fri, depending on how many of ur follies have caught up. Trigger nxt sat and EPU nxt Monday.
I think Primary has a day 5 embie transfer policy (generally) esp if they collect alot of eggs. If low number of eggs then day 3 transfer. I think @MissTilly was a day 3 transfer(?)
Good luck with BT and Scan and EPU. Tomorrow will be a big day.. Hoping to hear some good news tomorrow

@ABG79.. I can't speak about orgalutran because I was put on cetrotide but the only thing I found scary with the 2nd injections were the size of the needles.. That's all.. It didn't hurt.. My tip: inject on an empty tummy or if u're doing it late at night, make sure u don't have a big meal... Leave some flab to cushion the needle ..
U will have a needle free day between ur last set of injections and EPU.. So if EPU is Mon, then trigger is sat and Sunday is needle- free.. I looked forward to needle free day but sitting here where I am now.. I'd much prefer injecting than waiting

Hi @ABG79 I guess timing all depends on what the nurses say...17 follies is amazing! You'll probably have further scans for the follies to get bigger as I think they like them at 18-20mm. I have 6 that were 14mm on Wednesday and approx 17mm on Friday. Are you with Melbourne or Sydney?

@tjuls I certainly don't want the same outcome! It was terrible what happened to poor @Billie2 Interesting that those girls only got 6 as well...EPU is at 9.30
