Can I ask if you all use acupuncture along with your IVF? Im on a thread with ladies all from the same clinic and they ALL use acupuncture. One put it in my head that those that have been successful because of acupuncture and I strongly disagree with that suggestion. But it was enough to make me book an appt pre-transfer early Saturday morning. I couldn't get one for a post transfer session. I hate people planting doubt. I don't have any room for doubt.
@Billie2 No, I never did any acupuncture, none of my docs recommended it, I really didn't need extra appointments and cost. I felt a bit pressured with it too as many people I know would ask why I didn't do it. Mainly I don't believe in the theory behind it. If it helps because it's relaxing then get a massage I say
@Gagingi I am so sorry about your embryos, don't lose hope in the one that did get frozen, I never had any make it to freeze, they were either transferred or binned.

Hi @Billie2 FWIW i did years of accupuncture for IVF and I believe that it helped me for other reasons, ie improved blood to flow uterus and ovaries and it also helped regulate my highly irregular menstrual cycle but TBH I don't believe that the pre and post transfer acupuncture makes a tinkers cuss of a difference. In fact on my last visit to my acupuncturist she said that there was actually some new research to suggest that if the post transfer acupuncture session isn't done within a very short time frame following the transfer (I can't remember what the timeframe was - maybe 1 hour) that it can actually do more harm than good. On the only three cycles where I have had BFPs I have not done the pre-post acupuncture and for most of my other cycles I did but got BFNs. Also racing to the acupuncturist before and after transfer only added to my stress. To be honest a couple of valiums to relax me before transfer and keep me calm after transfer was the best medicine. Of course, this is only my opinion and my experience and others may disagree. I guess it's all about whatever works for you. Best of luck to you, whatever you decide. FFxx

Thanks ladies. I'm not traveling too well. Whilst I'm glad and appreciate being able to get in with Wazza soon, I don't want the DE push right now and DH won't be able to make the appointment.
@Charlie74 - I was surprised to be offered the option to freeze anything. I have had a normal 5CC before, so maybe they think it is in with a chance? Maybe statistically from what was collected/fertilized there should be a normal and it's the best bet? I have no idea.
@Billie2 - I haven't tried acupuncture for IVF as we had thought there isn't a good enough evidence-base, but then I think there is so much we're doing (e.g. supplements) that there isn't strong evidence for, so maybe I should give it a go. Having done clinical human research I know ethically how hard it is to get a project up and whilst we all wish there was more IVF research, I think it is so complex with so many variables, you cannot discount anecdotal support - so I think I will look into it (thank you!). With the updates - Wazza insists on daily updates being available as he believes it prepares patients for day 5. My previous QFG FS would only give fert rate and then book transfer and I think that is the norm for other FSs at QFG. I don't know if you are doing day 5, if you could ask for day 3 update, but to me day 4 seems to be the biggest hurdle so that won't help. Saturday is not far away now!
@winsor - you're the poster girl! We need more gals like you!
@BlondeinBrisvegas - hehe your tag comes up in my autocorrect now. Wazza has mainly talked about cost and day 3 PGD, as so many embies stall day 4. With day 3 it is straight $3060 for up to 4 embies, whereas I think day 5 is $700 per embie - so big difference with no rebate. I'll see what he says.
@midnite01 - congrats on being able to start. I'll look into acupuncture. That said, I agree with @Bongley about not needing extra stress and appointments, particularly around ET as @felicityfox said.
@greenlady - it's confusing isn't it? I figure that the last thing I'll do is multiple transfer of any leftover embies. I'm also going off fresh transfers and I believe from his staff that Wazza is reducing them too. Probably as freezing improves, it's better to optimize the oven.

@Gagingi - I always find it hard to think positively after bad news - however I'm good at telling other people to do it! I know you are trying to bank embryos but at least you have one PGD normal in the freezer! - I would sell my soul to the devil to get one.

My clinic told me they don't freeze anything below a cc grade expanded blastocyst. So if it's a cd, or dc or dd etc they won't freeze. I actually don't know the grading of my frosties and to be honest figure it's irrelevant since the two abnormal embryos I had in cycle 2 were hatching ab and bc.

@Gagingi Im so sorry to hear the news, iVF sucks dog balls. it really bloody does. Do you have to go see him straight away? Can you leave it until you feel ready? FWIW why don't you just arrange to do the FET of the untested embryo, plenty of people (like winsor) have gotten pregnant without testing and with embryos that arent 100% top quality so I think its worth a shot in the dark. Whilst doing that, maybe you guys can have a think about DE. The first couple of speeches I got on the DE thing I was torn up inside completely and felt sick hearing it. Now, here we are, Ive just come back from the FS and I was in there to tell her we are doing one last OE cycle and then its DE. My point is that its a process, and you are not ready to move on to that yet obviously so just take your time and see how you feel in a few months. With DE there is no rush, (yes I know there is always a rush!!) but honestly you have time to ponder it and either get comfortable with it or not, but it does take time. I think for us we just want a good result, we want to finally come away with a baby so thats where my head is at with it. Yes its not ideal, but my thoughts are its either that or keep hoping for a miracle which may never happen and then will I be 50 and regret that we didn't do it? When I asked myself that question around xmas last year, the answer was yes. And now we're here. I don't know if any of that helps, but I just want to illustrate that you can be in one headspace one minute and then a few months later ready to go a whole new direction. Just give yourself time. None of its easy.

@Billie2 Dont stress about the acupuncture, theres not much that guarantees success, actually I don't think there is ANYTHING that guarantees success, thats why this all sucks so much!!! I did acu and chinese medicine when we were first TTC and I got pregnant twice (yeah, see my sig..) I was also 36 years old. Its all pretty much anecdotal, anyone who probably would have gotten preggars fairly easily will swear by it because its "what got them pg" and then those like us who have tried every bloody thing in the book won't. But, I loved it, I loved my practitioner and the sessions were lovely, so relaxing and it was me taking time out from the world to lie there and relax/doze off for 30 mins. So it definitely cant hurt, but its not going to change the result IMO.

I just planned our last OE cycle in April and twisted my FS's arm to go to 400 puregon. She went on her usual spiel and I stopped her and said yeah I know what you're going to say BUT all my higher cycles have been better than my lower, even tho "everything over 300 is pointless". She laughed at me and said OK but they won't let me go higher than 400 so its the limit. Other than that we are doing the usual cycle and she remarked on my weight loss and our health kick saying that god it would be lovely if this one worked..but she's glad we are looking at DE.

So with DE it does seem that going through RPA will be slow with the 4 month quarantine which is required by the ethics committee of the hospital so it may be that we go through Genea..I can hear our bank account screaming!!! She did say they like to test all embryos and whilst the donor is doing her cycle they do a medicated FET protocol on me and transfer a day 5 embryo, although I wonder how they test the embryo then? @Bongley do you know more about that? unless its a day 6 embryo and they test day 5..

So now its just wait til april and we are off...

So my lovely stick wh0re friends, peel your eyes and see if you can see a squinter in this pic. My camera sucks. All I will say is that there is a pink line that came up within three minutes, mid-afternoon urine, 8dpo and I hardly have to squint to see it. Been here before several times, so

Can you kinda see it? The pic is pretty bad... I've had several chems, so not really hopeful, but the line came up quickly and being a proud stick wh0re myself, it is only 8dpo and I shouldn't even be testing yet at all.
