    My father and his side are Dutch. The different varieties of these are crazy. And yep, as a breakfast food. We also had biscuits (like big biscuits) you put on bread also. It's really weird when I wrote it down.

    The muisjes (mice) are yum (aniseed flavour) can get blue and white or pink and white but you can get one that translates to crushed mice, and it's basically a white aniseed powder.

    Now this thread means I have to go to the deli and spend way too much on sprinkles! The fairy bread thread already had me craving, now it's gotta be hagel!

    But is it margarine or butter on fairy bread (again no idea - this is all DH's forte)

    I love aniseed - black cats, black jelly beans, I remember when black jelly babies were aniseed flavoured. Cannot do the Dutch version!

    Margarine. Always margarine, white bread and real 100s and 1000s.

    Using butter is like putting fruit in chocolate.

    Yep. All the sorts. Incl the salty ones.
    They have really odd food but I love almost all of it. Whenever my father was in charge of food, that's what I got
