Default 4 year old kinder new fees

Hi I've just moved from vic to nsw and am wondering do I have to pay fees for 4 year old kinder here when I have a pensioner concession card? In vic 4 year old kinder is free and I'm a little confused when told I'd have to pay $30 a day when it cost me less to send her to daycare for longer days where everything is supplied. Thanks.

In my experience... yes I had to pay, but it was a reduced rate. I think full fees were around $50, I paid $25.

And yes, it would have been cheaper for my kids to go to childcare, but I preferred preschool.

Yes, i moved from vic to nsw as well and very surprised to find that 4 year old preschool is not free here. Full fee is around 50 but there is reduced fees for low income families. Still, compared to daycare, the hours are short and you have to provide everything.

My DS is in preschool 3 days this year (he's starting primary school next year) and it's $55 per day. I don't have a concession card and the rebate is very minimal. It's a financial stretch for sure.

I'm not sure how it compares $ wise with sending a child to a long day care instead (because there are decent rebates on offer). Day care centres run a preschool program and you get the benefit of longer hours if you need them. I haven't considered this as my DS has additional needs and this particular preschool caters to him wonderfully (he attended one day a week last year).

Unfortunately there are no childcare centres 😱 the town only had a population of 660 people. I cannot believe you pay that much 😨 I was paying $28 a day for long daycare last year but again that was in Victoria.
