Woo hooo - that's such a great thing to read first thing in the morning (7am in Perth )!

We have finally decided on Greece last night - and are just waiting for DH bloods to send to Dr K...

I needed a lift as I saw my GP yesterday to get results and he was quite negative about me going OS... luckily he still wrote out the scripts Dr K gave us as none of the chemists would fill his scripts given he isn't from Oz!

I'm finally excited about all this - with a touch of fear (about travelling and of BFN) ... but this will be our last chance

Good luck everyone - may your BFP's soon be beautiful little bubas

    Hi Rhino
I think getting an oz gp to complete the scripts is a standard procedure.
I had to do the same and my GP (male) was very negative too.
At least he wrote the scripts for you though.
    Good luck.
    Lisa

@Rhino Hi, just thought id say gday coz i have decided to go to embryoland too. My hubby is going to do his bloods next week. I did mine today. We are going over in the last week of september. When are you planning to go? I keep imagining sitting in the waiting room with bubhub ladies. Im gonna ask out loud when im there if anyone is from aus and on bubhub.
Anyway afm, my hyst went well - no probs with my uterus, so hopefully im a good candidate. Still very excited but trying to remember i might need to go back once or twice more and that the odds arent 100% by any means. I guess it depend on how my donor's cycle goes.
Really pleased to hear about all the bfp's!!!
Id also like to say thanks to everyone who has shared their experiences at all the different clinics in athens :-)

Hi @gorgeousgeorge we asked at our initial chat with Dr K to go over end Aug/early Sept. Until we speak to him again (after he receives our blood tests) we'll finalise all that. Yeah it would be fantastic to meet up with other bubhub ladies over there!! Good luck with your cycle at the end of Sept!!

    Hi Girls: WARNING LONG POST!
Just thought I'd write some stuff which hopefully may prove helpful to some people for the future.

As some of you know we are here in Athens at the moment with Dr N, transfer date will be towards the end of next week. We are doing normal IVF (not donor) and it's our first time. We are his youngest people on his books at the moment with the average age seeming to be between 44-48.

Our reasons were coming here were that we didn't feel it was right for us in Oz at the clinics we had gone to, all very clinical, only caring about the money and not about making things better!

We went to an IVF specialist before we came here to get meds prescribed ($1200 for the Gonnol-F and $125 for the Synarel Nasal Spray) however Dr N timed everything for us that we only had to buy the Synaral in Australia and the alternative to Gonnol-F (which my husband has to mix together and then inject into me) was brought from the pharmacy across from Embryoland for only 300 Euro total! So if you can hold off from getting meds until you get here, speak to the Doc and it will save you loads of money!

Everyone at the clinic is just fabulous. Both Maria's are just gentle, warm and caring...words cannot describe the care we feel from everyone there, not to mention Dr N himself, who truly loves, lives and breathes what he does. No wonder the Australian medical industry is annoyed with losing so many IVF patients to overseas clinics. Perhaps if they cared a little more and did things correctly without trying to rip people off there would be a change in the medical profession.

In terms of travel, both of us are very experienced travellers and this is our 5th year in a row to Europe (we holiday here each year).
Athens is a very safe city (but always be cautious of course!). Use the ATM's in main areas (either Alpha Bank or Pireus Band) or of course credit cards are accepted everywhere. Do have some Euro on you when you want to make small purchases though.

In terms of accommodation, we have split these 3 weeks up between 2 different AirBnb apartments and a major hotel I'm a member of. One of the AirBnb's is in the Monastaraki area with loads of restaurants, shops and markets (and a major metro stop) and other in the Plaka Area. Both apartments have been fantastic and happy to share links via private message. One of them was $57 a night and the other $75 a night. Full apartments with kitchen, washing machine, wifi etc etc etc.

In terms of transport we take taxis or Ubers everywhere. Taxibeat App is an excellent app to use similar to Uber where you can rate the drivers and choose who you want for the ride. Also shows approx fare cost for where you're going, what languages the driver speaks, if he has wifi on board and more. Very Very handy.

I know a lot of people are told to go and relax while they're here. We have chosen to just stay in Athens for the 3 weeks and then go off to Mykonos, Milan and Italy to see family after this is all done. I am more than happy to answer to any questions regarding airlines, transport, best routes and islands as I've done almost all the Greek Islands numerous times over the years and have travelled extensively within Europe.

We met one Aussie couple in the waiting room, some days it's busy there, other days (depending on time of day they want you there isn't anyone). So far we go there every 2nd day for scans/blood tests up until retriveal and then a few days after that will be transfer. My hubby can do his job at any time but Dr N wants him to go around 4-5 days without anything till his time

At the moment the weather is sunny but mild. It will get much hotter next week, and then stay unbearably hot till late August, so bare that in mind if you plan on coming during these times. And ensure whether you book has decent air-con, you'll need it.

I feel so joyous today. We have 6 eggs growing at the moment after Dr N said he'd be happy with 4. Now he wants 8! So for my age we are thrilled. The injections don't hurt but scans are a little uncomfortable! He is saying at this stage if all goes well, he will be transferring two in.

For those of you hesitating about Embryoland. Don't. This is the place for you. Whether it is for normal IVF (of which he's had over 4000 successful babies through that) or Donor Eggs (over 2000 babies). Some of the "celebrity" doctors here and the ones getting kick backs from Sydney/Melbourne want to cost you more money. Don't do it. There is no need. Do it yourself, makes the calls/email/skype and I can assure you're making the right decision by coming here, no matter what the outcome.

Much love to all xx J
