Hi @lissimmo, I am with Iakentro. I picked them based on research prior to joining this thread. When we flew to Greece I was excited to see a full page advert for Iakentro in the airline flight magazine. (I thought it was a sign!). They are quite well known here and have 2 clinics, one in Athens and one in Thessaloniki. This website gives you a general overview of clinics: www.eggdonationfriends.com/clinics/iakentro/

On this forum we are all very proud of our clinics! We all think our clinic is the best one! But as it is a general Greek thread, we welcome information about any Greek clinic. In saying that, Iakentro, Embryoland and Serum have repeatedly good reviews & successes mentioned on this thread.

All is well that ends well though hey, at least those little embies are growing away now :-). Is Iakentro in Athens or Thessaloniki?

Fingers crossed for lots if A grade embryos to choose from on Day 5!
    Thanks @Vixjc!

Apparently the donor had several follicles... but most were empty... perhaps the drugs didn't agree with her this time?? Ruth had NEVER experienced this before at this clinic. We were all shocked. It was bizarre, but we had to move on. I said to DH that perhaps someone is looking over us and sparing us from some fate with the first donor...? (Just trying to put a positive spin on it!) The 2nd donor is still a good match, even has the same blood type. Just a tad shorter, but DH is tall so hopefully will override the height difference.

Iakentro has 2 clinics in both Athens and Thessaloniki. We are in Thessaloniki as we are doing extra processes on the sperm (MACS, PICSI, ICSI) and PGD on the embryos. Thessaloniki has more advanced equip for these procedures. We will visit Athens for a few days after transfer. Hoping to meet Kostas and do the 3 island tour!

Ah that's right, I was sure sure we had talked about Thessaloniki but couldn't remember why, but it was their special technology.

As long as you have a compatible donor who has produced a good number of follies, you're in the game! And it just goes to show that IVF can still spit out a curve ball even with these fertile young lovelies that are so kindly donating to us, just likes to keep us on our toes and make sure we never forget ED is not a magic bullet *eye roll* ...

But I'm with you, it's all good, all happening for a reason, I'm calling a (double?) BFP for you already :-D can feel it in my waters ;-)

@lissimmo I will also confirm that Dr Kanakas is NOT desperate for clients. He is a wonderful Doctor and very thorough and is keen to help as many people as he can. He is very passionate about what he does. I would also say the same for Serum. I did choose Embryoland in the end but have heard so many positive stories about Serum. I would've been happy to go to either it was just how it worked out.
    We are currently 9 weeks.

Welcome to all the newbies. I would also suggest reading through the previous threads for the Greece posts - they are very informative and will give you a good understanding of lots of issues that we've gone through.
I can confirm he's not desperate for clients. He has so many from Australia because of his fabulous success rate and beautiful bedside manner.

Thanks @Vixjc! You have made me teary eyed! We all have experienced a journey searching for our bubbas... that's why we are here on this forum - hoping Greece can help us. We have tried everything. When we had probs with the donor i thought 'why me?' It sounded like my OE experience of empty follicles all over again... but we are back on track now. There are no guarantees but hoping 12 eggs gives us a chance.

    Hello Ladies.
    So good @AnnaMM. Congratulations!
I'm just about to check out of here and go to the airport for the long flight home. Fingers crossed no delays this time. I just want to be home.
Anyone thinking of donor egg I would recommend Greece for sure. The clinics are so lovely and helpful. I think of all the clinics mentioned on this thread you couldn't go wrong. Just see which one makes you most comfortable. It's just different than home and so much easier.

Just a question that any of the Serum girls might know. I had 5 day transfer on Monday and have been asked to do blood test next Friday so that is 16 days post egg retrieval. Does anyone know why it wouldn't be just the 14 days? I don't know if I can wait that long.
