Default Wwyd: guest comment **may offend**

    What would you do?

Your father is visiting your house for dinner. Kids are in bed. Your father looks at someone on the TV and says "he has a fagg*t haircut."

What would you do? What do you think I did?

I'd personally tell him such comments aren't really welcome in my home but that he's entitled to his opinion, just please keep it to yourself.

I hope you went to town on his a$s!

I would tell him that offensive, homophobic language like that is unwelcome in my home, and that if I ever heard him say something like that again I'd be asking him to leave.

What do I think you did? Hmmm. Much the same as above?

I would, and have, called out the use of language like that as inappropriate incidentally by my father (and others). My dad referred to someone on tv as a 'poofter' and I calmly said please don't talk like that I find it offensive. He got the message loud and clear, he knows not to speak like that in front of me.
As for what you did- I think (hoped) you called it out.

Yeah - I have pulled people up on similar things before. And tell them that is not ok to say and not say it again in jy house etc.

I think you told him (nicely lol) that his comment is disrespectful and you do not want to hear it again. Or similar.

Well honestly. I'd do nothing. My dad often says things like this. He's old. He says inappropriate stuff frequently. I don't feel the need to chastise my own dad about stuff. Certainly not in this instance.
And I'd likely upset him which I'm not really into doing.

My dad wouldn't say something like that.
But if someone was in my house and used such language they'd be asked not to. I would be polite about it, but I wouldn't be accepting it.
I reckon you didn't do much as past threads involving your parents seem to show you have a hard time putting your foot down with your parents

I'd probably say nothing, or just look and roll my eyes in a nice way. Honestly I'm not fussed about changing an old person's view about some haircut.

VP, I think you grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and tied him to the catapult machine you keep in your backyard for offensive guests who forget to remove their shoes/leave used tissues on your countertop/drop perfectly clean disposable nappies on floors in public and still use them/change their children on footpaths etc and flung him back to where he came from.
    Didn't ya? 😉😜
