Woah it is humid here! I'm hope we get a storm coming because I am sitting here dripping and we have no air-con or fans in this house GRRRR! Hope you're doing OK BIB and that DP is not giving you too much hell at the moment.

@Tahli I hope today goes well for you and that you've got a quiet time over the weekend to recover. Glad it's a GA for you - I'd want everything under GA, I'm such a sook.

@Caesardust you did really well to get through that meeting so well, I know what you mean about sucking it up until you can get some privacy and lose it. A couple of months after my last miscarriage I had to go to a christening where my DH was the Godfather, and I tell you, I had bruises all up my arms from pinching myself so hard during the ceremony to stop from running out of that church screaming. And DH didn't get it at all. The things we go through!

AFM AF finally arrived, exactly two weeks late. A little more painful than usual but healthy looking, so I guess I blame the pred or the virus for stuffing things up and now use this as my new normal and hope I'm back on a 28 day clockwork cycle. Except that now my plans for a March OE cycle are out the window as I'm traveling at all the wrong times now. Not that DH and I have actually discussed anything further as yet, but hopefully we will have time this weekend to have a chat.

Fingers crossed this f-ing weather breaks soon!

Urghhhh so hot and sticky and I'm working night shift all weekend!
So much on here I can't keep up hope everyone is keeping cool at least

So I'm starting to have second thoughts about my next DE cycle. First one was 9 retrieved, only 4 fert 2 at day 3 and none at day 5.
My FS said on paper my donor was perfect, right age (32) perfect history, for me she is perfect also, by best friend and awesome person, we have similar physical attributes, personalities and interests. My FS is quite happy to use her again as it "might of just been a bad month"
But I'm starting to stress already ( won't be cycling again until may)
I feel like maybe it's all a bit to perfect! Catastrophising much?

@MissDa thats a hard one. So she's your best friend? I dont know if that aspect makes it harder in some ways as youve got a relationship there so might be tricky to say no thanks. It could just be a bad month, Ive had those in amongst much better cycles so its hard to judge. i guess whats the alternative, would you have to then find a new donor?

It's possible it was just a bad crop of eggs for that month, that's assuming it was an egg issue. It very well may have been a sperm issue or a combination of both.

Agree it is tricky as it's a known donor to you and your best friend to boot!!! But to be perfectly honest with you Luv, If I was going down the donor route, I'd be wanting one as young as possible in their early to mid 20's tops which is really difficult to find if you're going to do DE here in Aust, much easier if you're going o/seas.

Perhaps your FS can tweak her protocol for next time (what FSH was she on last time??) and use different FSH or add a little of some in/raise the dose etc to try to yield better quality eggs if not higher numbers as 9 is pretty good if they were all mature to start with

Got the call back from my clinic, not that they were much help. Basically, "it's ok that you're still bleeding, and we're seeing you Monday anyway so we'll just wait and see."

Monday will come soon enough And the good thing with scans is you get your answer straight away.

Hopefully as others have said it's just a 'one off' bad batch of eggs, but I can understand your hesitation hon. 'Perfect donor' or not that's still a lot of money to shell out. Has your donor had children herself? And did you use a sperm donor? If so, maybe you could pick a different sperm donor....ie: Maybe the problem wasn't her eggs, but the actual sperm instead?

I've been on BOM and the storms are passing us by! The thunder is rumbling but it is stinking in the house! Geez I wish we had air-con, unfortunately I need to work so have to be at home behind my computer with a pedestal fan full blast - doesn't quite do that job!

@infinity888 it wasn't the vitamin supplements or DHEA / Melatonin I don't think that mucked up my thyroid - it was the "kitchen sink" approach with lots of different meds that I think sent it all out of whack. Alongside a bucket load of supps and those two hormones I was on Prednisone, Trental, Nitrodur patches, Piroxicam, Clexane, & Baby aspirin. Then painkillers because the patches gave me blinding headaches, and sleeping tablets because I had ridiculous insomnia.

Then my stim cycles were 600iu of alternating Puregon & Menopur plus Orgalutran to stop ovulation, then hcg trigger shots every few days and Progesterone pessaries. I did four cycles with all of that stuff pretty much non-stop and got really, really sick. Not sure which particular drug affected my thyroid or whether it was just an overload and combination of everything - but I look back at pictures of myself six months ago and my whole throat and neck area was so swollen and I was very puffy and fluidy.

So something went really wrong and it just wasn't managed properly unfortunately. I'm much, much better now and if I had more time I'd likely be doing cycles and slowly adding things in and seeing how I went, rather than loading everything all at once and not knowing which part of the protocol was knocking my thyroid out.

If I do get the opportunity I'd like to do one low dose, minimal drug cycle to see if that yields better results as some of the ladies here have attested to
