It depends on the country and their individual laws/visa/travel requirements.
Australia does not allow someone with a criminal record as far as I know (I am not sure if tourist is excluded but definitely visa) and Australia is taking a hard stance against those that are convicted of DV.
So yes, it can affect travelling internationally.

Generally if you've been charged with any sort of crime, expect to have difficulty travelling overseas.
