Default Hello from an Amenorrhea sufferer

    Hi all!

I'm 26, married and been TTC for quite some time. Have not had a period since May 2015 and diagnosed with secondary amenorrhea after ceasing birth control - levels came back ok and now being referred to IVF clinic Feb 2015.

Have not been diagnosed as Hypothalmic but was on a low fat diet for a year or so and lost 9 kilos (I was by no means overweight in the first place) and in the process of gaining some of that back (gained around 3 kilos) as it has dawned on me that this cannot have helped the situation

Interested to talk to anyone going through a similar experience or anyone that has overcome it!

    Default I feel your frustration!!

    Hiya!

I realise this is a post from 2016.. but I'm hoping it'll attract the eyes of others who have/are experiencing the same. So sorry to read of your situation sheeny. I feel so helpless and confused, wishing I had answers! I have had amenorrhea for just over 4yrs now.. am about to turn 30.. we'd like to have a baby soon but right now know that's impossible & tbh even being intimate is not on the cards for me my hormones are that out of whack! I have seen a few different gyno's.. have low progesterone levels & very low amh level with no one able to provide an explanation why I have no period!! I was overweight and lost 50kgs over a 2.5yr period about 5yrs ago.. the moment the drs hear that they say my issues are because of weight loss - I thought getting fit and healthy was meant to be good for us?! I've been to naturopaths, eat well & exercise. Have recently taken a course of progesterone in an attempt to get a period but no result my gyno (Eve health) called me today and requested to see me again and suggested we start down the ivf track.. which concerns me. We really want a baby but I'm worried about taking ivf drugs.. I've been recommended to see a hormone specialist who prescribes non-synthetic hormones through a compounding chemist which appeals to me. However, I am so torn between whether to go the gyno track or hormone dr... 😩

Anyone else willing to share or give advice - I'm open!
