    I can't think of any reasonable answer as to why he'd do that; even if it was not sinister on his behalf, way to freak a lady out! Good on you for reporting the idiot. And good thinking getting his license plate details. Hopefully the police will follow it up with him and at the very least he will think twice before behaving like a creep.

    Would definitely report it! And glad you did. Your gut instinct was setting off alarm bells for a reason.
    The fact that he seen you come out of your house is the most frightening part imo. Also the fact you said you live across from a primary school. Even though it's school holidays, who knows if it's a regular occurrence on his behalf when school is on. So many disgusting, creeps out there.
    I'm interested in what the police said to you? Did they treat you seriously?
