    Default Script issues

Ok.....what a week!! Good news.....all test so far that have come back are good. Not so good news is that where I live there are only 2 private Gyno's in a region spanning almost 5,000 kms and non will prescribe the medication that I need for the first injection. Standard GP's are unable to assist. Will have to contact Anna at Zlin clinic, but if anyone has run into the same issue with this recently, I'd love to know how you found a solution.

Will the gp's not prescribe the prednisone or the estrogen? If they will all you will need is the injection and enough progesterone to get to through to when you arrive at the clinic, Anna can send a script to an international pharmacy and you can get all the stuff you need from there, or alternatively you could go to a drop in medical centre and take the list of meds you need and a letter stating why your needing them and maybe a dr will prescribe them for you, you'll have to have a private script for the injection and the progesterone as they're not covered on Medicare, well the injection is but only if you have endo etc. I was lucky that in my first cycle in Greece my gp wrote me scripts for everything and then I had some left over so I only needed tier the injection which at that stage I was able to get from fertility2u, at one stage the clinic was also sending out what you needed to get started but that may have changed now. Either way you'll be ok and if worst come to worst you just get it all off the international pharmacy could be less hassle doing it that way anyway !!

I have the same problem in 2014, no one would prescribe the injection. I was lucky this year. I have heaps left over after 2 attempts and my ob prescribed lupron. My first attempt in 2014 I used https://ivfmeds.com I just had a look on their site and they say worldwide so assume still ship to Aus, but have a look. i did the order online and my coordinator sent them a script.
the next issue you may have is one I faced in 2014. Because no one would prescribe it no one would give me the injection. And given it is intramuscle I was hesitant to gi e it to myself. Hopefully you do not have that issue. I ended up contacting genea, who I had already been to when we first started this journey and they agreed to give me the shot. Good luck.

Default Script and Injection Medication Issues

Thank you @Debant and @stacey10 for your comments....it seems the goal posts have shifted and it is becoming increasingly more difficult to get a hold of the meds required. After much research, I can confirm the following issues in relation to scripts/ injection medication (1) Australian pharmacies will not accept international scripts for the relevant fertility injection, (2) A GP will not prescribe the medication in Australia...this must be done by a Gynie or Obs specialist. (3) The injection must be administered by a specialist.....or the specialist in which wrote the script. (4) Even if I am able to get the injection from overseas pharmacy I still need a specialist to administer here in Australia and this would be unlikely given they did not prescribe.

Basically I need to find a specialist who will support someone from interstate as I live in a remote area with few specialist options. If anyone has had a specialist they believe could assist, I would be more than willing to travel. Only have 6 weeks to get this organised!!!!

I've sent you a pm amberbright.

i know what you are facing as I had this in 2014. It's stressful. I was at the point where I was considering getting someone like DH to give me injection. There are videos online to give intramuscle injections.

@Amberbright you definitely do not need a specialist to do the injection, plenty of ladies do them themselves or have their partners do them, there are also plenty of videos on YouTube of how to do them to watch before hand so I wouldn't worry about that, as far as I'm aware Australian pharmacies have never been able to fill overseas scripts, a gp can write the script for you it just is a private script not one that is on the general Medicare script paper, so if you can get a gp on board they can do the script but it sounds to me that your best bet is to get it from an overseas pharmacy and get your partner to do it, like I said there is no way you need a specialist to do it.

How's things going amberbright? You worked things out.?
Well today was jab day for me. Did not hurt when getting it but have some pain in the area and going up now. Hopefully that will settle soon. Did not have that last 2 times. Feeling a bit flat today. The nurse who gave me the injection remembers me from last year. Telling her this is our last attempt has made me a bit teary. Feel like I need a good cry. I was contemplating not coming to work but my colleague text while I was waiting for needle to say she's not well. So thought I should go in. But if she makes it in I think I may go home.
Hope you are all doing well.

@Debant I think what your feeling is perfectly natural, plus you have all the added worries on top of a normal cycle, even I was a bit flat before going out this time, I think it's the worry if it will work or not and some self preservation setting in, my injection stung a bit this time as well, the first one didn't feel it at all, different brand for me so I wonder if that had anything to do with it or it was in a slightly different position this time. Hopefully as the time gets nearer you can start to focus on the holiday part and the excitement will come from that

Hey @Amberbright, I liv$remote and got my scripts from the gp as Stacey said they are private scripts but they can do them. The other option you could try is Zolodex that was easier to get than the Lucrin for me.

I paid Dr Warren Ambrosis the fee for him to write scripts in Qld but tbh the gp scripts were the ones that got filled. Wazza helped with scans etc which made things easier here I live in remote WA.

The gp did all that I asked and didn't really mind but I think I was lucky.

I hope everyone else is well sorry I haven't been around lately I have been ridiculously busy with work which has meant I have had no real time for much else so the computer was not being turned on when I come home.

Great to see some ladies heading over soon. I hope that there are more Zlin bubba's heading yr way!!!

I find out the sex on Monday so getting a little excited.

Thanks @stacey10 this is why I like this forum. People to talk to who know how you feel. I wonder if the injection hurt more this time because it was lucrin rather than lupron. All good now. Apart from the mood but a quote I rely on when feeling low, "this too shall pass" and it will.

very exciting @tegs26, finding out the sex.

I meant to tell you I caught up with a friend on the weekend who went to Zlin and has a beautiful baby girl. She is 1 in November and is so gorgeous. It was good to catch up. My friend gave me these cute little lucky bunnies. Someone gave them to her before she went to Zlin and she has passed them on to me to give me the luck she had.

Went to gp tonight to get the travel letter for meds. Going to get Webster pack this time I think. Easier than taking all the boxes of meds. I ordered a travel bag from the diabetes shop that'll keep meds between 2-8 degrees for 24 hours so should be ok with Neupogen now. Still have to arrange transport from Zlin to Bratislava and back. Going to go with Student Agency. We were just going to get the train but i think easier with student agency, only 1 change. That's all we have left to organise now for the planned stuff. Just now to find some walking tours and plan being a tourist.
