@Tahli haha so funny i just had a chat to Dr W! Good news he isnt retiring, he is just going on 6months sabbatical. I think thats like long service. Anyway his number is on the website so i rang it thinking it was the clinic. Whoopsie but at least now you know he is not retired so now to try the number he gave me.

@ECM1981 I'm glad to hear it's a sabbatical and not 'retirement' as my nurse told me! How did you get on lastnight...did you find out what's happening with your donor?

    Default Ready to Go :)

Flights booked with SAA arriving in CT on 5 June, scan on 6 June CFC. Can anyone recommend an accupuncturist in CT?

Just trying to sort out accomodation looking at an apartment in the De Waterkant area as it is much cheaper than V&A as we need 2 bedrooms as we have a 6 year old daughter.

Love reading about people journey. I am doing an immune protocol with my Adelaide fertility specialist haven't told CFC yet. This is my first cycle with them. Do you actually get to talk to them or Skype with them prior to the first scan? Just seems odd to put so faith into a Dr I have never even talked to.

    $26 000 whoa crazy.

CFC well under $10k for full cycle with donor and FET about $500. Even blood test there is only $17. Freezing is super cheap too in comparison with QFG.

I personally preferred the intimacy of CFC and the genuine friendlinesd of the doctor there compared with QFG in Brisbane (who treat you like a number and always have issues with accounts). The anaesthetic costs in Brisbane were outrageous too. I was not impressed at the length of time one anaesthetist billed when I had been accidentally given my theatre notes with anaesthetic start and finish times. Being a clinician who works in hospitals I knew it was a ridiculous. Surgery time 11 minutes billed an hour. Typical IVF money making attitude.

Quality of eggs is the issue not numbers. Too many eggs overstimulated will not mean a better outcome. Trust your doctor to know what they are doing. I had 7 eggs and nearly kissed Dr Matabese and she was so thrilled that I understood. 6 fertilized with 4 high quality embryos. 2 pregnancies from 2 transfers so far.

It is always quality over quantity with IVF. Older eggs will have a higher fallout at fertilisation than younger or better quality eggs.

Upping dtims is not good. Overstimulation redults in higher numbers of less poorly developed eggs. Seriously, these people are specialists who know what they are doing. Just trust them to do their job, and they do it well at CFC.

Thank you Tahli and ECM1981 on your advice about Dr Wiswedel, I was looking forward to meeting him, I had received some funny emails from him when I first started down this path. I now have Dr Le Roux and Cyndi is still my co-ordinator.

I have a question about a gift for my donor, she has said in her profile that she loves reading and has listed her favorite book. I have found the book in 1st edition, 1st print with author signature there is not that many of them for sale on the net and its reasonably priced. This is the first book in a trilogy so I could get the others to go with it maybe.

Is it to personal?? Any advice on this greatly accepted.

That would be an amazing gift @babywish313 very thoughtful. I'm sure she would love it. We have had to mive our dates by 2 weeks which is annoying as we already had annual leave booked and airfares too. But our donor wants a break before our cycle so we want her to be happy as she is going through a lot for us. Its just extra money we didnt want to waste. We had already got our dates from our nurse which was why we went ahead and booked our flights. She requested the change the next day...typical! Maybe its fate and it will all be for the best

What a tricky position to be put in @ECM1981. It's not like you could kick up a stink. And after you did so well at being patient, waiting for her CF results. It's definitely a costly delay you could have done without. I hope your new dates are solidly booked in now. Big hugs, .

Thanks @Tahli inhave emailed CFC again to get a final confirmation before i head back into the travel agent to blow approx 400 bucks on nothing really. But no point dwelling on it. Least i have an extra fortnights pay and a couple of hours to add to my annual leave hours. So now its an 8.5week count down. Whats your countdown? X

Girls, thanks so much again for suggesting your egg donors and discussing your remaining embryos with me. This week an exceptionally generous BubHuber has donated me her 3 remaining embryos. I'm flying over to CT in exactly 4 weeks, with transfer the day I land (Fri 20th May). Fingers firmly crossed I have better luck with my 3 very special gifts, .
