We have our donor picked but now we have to get her tested for cystic fibrosis gene and that takes 8-10 weeks. So if it comes back that she is a carrier i dont know what to do. I am praying all will be ok with her because it will be hard to find another donor before June if she cant donate. Hopefully they can put a rush on the test. I dont see how it can take so long?

@ECM1981 I was never aware of needing this test - Is there a reason you particularly should get it done? Or did I just fly by the seat of my pants... . ? Probably option b lol...

@JulieMalooley we need the test because my husband is a cf carrier (i am too) so if our donor is also a carrier we have a 1 in 4 chance of our child having Cystic fibrosis. Some places test for it routinely because 1 in 25 are carriers. If our donor is a carrier we can still use her but would have to get all the embryos tested for cf which is expensive and takes a while.

    Hi ladies !
Sorry for the hiatus from me but as I'm sure you can all appreciate newborn twins kind of side track you from EVERYTHING else 😳😜

Going to try and play catch up and read through everything I have missed.

As for us these first 4 1/2 months have been a roller coaster but we have finally got to a nice routine (?).
It can't all be bad though as DH and I are currently 'discussing' options for a possible FET next year with our frosties in CT. 😜😳 (maybe we are crazy or sleep deprived..)

So this time last year I was getting my 3rd transfer at CFC which was matter of 3rd time lucky - a success! Hard to believe, time has gone so fast. Am feeling blessed as i sit here feeding my gorgeous little girl.
For those that didn't get their BFP, have hope and don't give up.

12 months on from our trip to SA I have also been feeling quite nostalgic and completely humbled by the gift our donor has given us with our twins.

It took countless attempts here and two trips to SA for us but I definitely wouldn't change a thing.... These two babies were meant for us.
For those reading this and wondering if it's worth stepping out to take the plunge or those who have tried but haven't gotten their bfp just yet; I'd say ditto to KLM - never lose hope❤️

    Hi girls

So great to hear so many people are going to CT for ED. I haven't been on this thread for a while. We went to Cape Town in Aug 2014 and now have a beautiful nearly 10 month old baby girl who is the light of our lives. We are now going back for no. 2 in April & in the process of booking flights/accom etc. Our lively bub is almost walking (or should I say running!) so a little nervous about the flight. I am sorry for those who it has not worked out for but completely agree with KLM & Blinky. It is so worth it & your baby will come when it is meant to. We were just lucky it worked first go but would have gone 3 times if we had to as I knew the odds were there.

Will anyone be in CT early April? At this stage we are looking at 1 April - 11 April. Any tips from those who travelled with bubs? We are flying Qantas so assuming we can get the bassinets on flight.

Good luck to everyone. As others have said it is so worth it.
