Hi girls, had anyone had testing done on their donor egg embryos and what was the reason if you dont mind sharing. Or what would some reasons be that a recipient of embryos using donor eggs would want them tested? Would it be for peace of mind for abnormalities? Sperm issues? What other medical reason would there be please xx

I'm not sure of genuine medical reasons @ECM1981 but for me if my March transfer fails and I have to do a completely fresh cycle then I'll be doing PGS.
I don't want to be in this position again wondering if there was something wrong with the embryos that was never going to work from the start.
When I initially inquired about it Dr M told me it wasn't overly necessary because of the age of the donors.
I'd love to know how much it costs and how long it takes. Does any-one know?
I hope your search for an ED is going well this week. xx

Oh that's a good point tahli. I suppose it rules that out at least. I have had pgd and cgh testing on my own embryos and it took a while to get the results back- about 6 to 8 weeks i think. Would you do a fresh transfer on untested embryos and test the left over ones or test them all and go back for a frozen transfer? If you are using sperm donor too you could get the eggs collected fertilized and tested without going over and then head over for a frozen transfer once you got the results. BUT hopefully you wont nees to think of all of that because your next transfer will work xxx

    Hi @AFM and @BB4Me

I arrive in CT on 16th Feb and leave on 23 or 24 Feb, as I am having my scan in Perth, so coming for a shorter duration. I am staying at Cape Town Ritz in Sea Point as I stayed at Green Point last time.. so wanted to stick near the coast. It has a pool so hoping to spend a bit of time resting there . Was about $70 AUD per night. I have also booked a hire car n gps so plan driving all over and do a bit of sightseeing... so being near Claremont wasn't a big thing for me. Hotel has ok ratings... but may be undergoing some renovations. Location and a pool was my main requirements.

If any of you would like to meet up in Cape Town or chat before, PM me. Hope to catch up. Less than a week till I fly out.

    K

@ECM1981 Both are options if I need to do another fresh cycle, either transfer 2 untested and do PGS on the rest and freeze them...or just do PGS on all of them and freeze all of them. As it would be cycle 5 for me I could do with the peace of mind.
I AM SO DESPERATE FOR THIS CYCLE TO WORK!!!!
I'm really excited for you that you may have it down to two ED's. Super fingers crossed they have good stats!!
Also good luck to @kylie764 for your upcoming cycle!!
