How do you find your center? Is it all through nurses to keep costs down? Do they adjust cycles and dosages to your needs or is it one size fits all? I'm very curious as when I signed up for all this I didn't realize the differences between clinics!
I don't actually know if it's one size fits all as this is my first round of IVF ever so they just kept it stock standard to see how my body reacted. Everything went well so no amendments to drugs where made other then upping my dose of Progynova for FET to help with lining. Yes I only see nurses no dr but he is there floating around seeing the normal IVF patients. I have no issues with them the nurses are lovely and the facilities are all the same as what the normal IVF patients use so it's all top notch. I go to life fertility Springhill the low cost side of it is called bulk bill IVF.

Hopefully I won't need to think about it as one of my last two frostie embryos does the trick ☺️ but I guess I'm just worried after my last failed FET if there is something I'm missing out on, but I suppose with any transfer the odds aren't in your favour, usually 30-40% aren't they?

@Heyside I’m so glad you have the green light to go again! Fingers crossed all the extra bits and pieces will work their magic on your lining.

Getting close now @Keiko2012! Really crossing my fingers for this cycle to be the one.

@BecT Ah that sucks that your DH has to go away. I hope the times passes quickly at least. You’ll probably have a little bump when he gets back!

@shelby27 It might still be worth asking about those extra things, even if it’s a low cost clinic. Or another idea – would your GP prescribe them maybe? It can’t hurt to ask in any case – you never know. I pay a lot at my clinic unfortunately, but my issues and DH’s issues mean that we don’t qualify for low cost clinics. Otherwise we would have been there in a flash!

For our last cycle we paid (keep in mind we did a lot of optional extras):

IVF - ICSI and PICSI: $8840
    FS management fee: $565
    Anaesthetic: $288
    Drugs: $263
    Embryoscope: $475
    Total up front: $10431

    Medicare refund: $5868
    Total out of pocket: $4563

The day hospital fees were covered by my private health cover so there was nothing to pay there, and my FS gap covers the egg pick up and embryo transfer, so I didn’t pay for those things either.

Not much happening here other than morning sickness. It’s not fun, but I know it’s normal and I just have to ride it out. I did resort to drugs yesterday for the first time to get through work though. If only we all didn’t have to work, eh? I would have such a nice life! Other than the no money thing I also caved and booked in for another scan with FS at about 10 weeks. I just didn’t think I could make it through to 12 weeks without knowing if there are still 2 or only 1 or if everything is ok in there. Ah well, FS was happy to do it so I don’t feel too bad

@MrsChino It's DD I feel sorry for the most lol. Morning (or any time of day) sickness is making it hard to cook so we will be eating simple. Poor kid lol. Smells are really getting to me. I hurled as soon as got to my doctors office the other day because his floor smelt like the dentist lol. Bummed that I have to do the 12 wk scan alone but not much we can do. I hope you start feeling better soon!

Oh I so hear you on the smells @BecT! I had to run out of woolies the other day because a lady in the fruit and veg section was wearing yucky perfume that made me heave. Oh, the joys.

@shelby27 Yeah, I am definitely not complaining. I would probably pay much more if I thought it would work! Although keep in mind we have paid that much six times over, plus 3 surgeries, plus 4 months of acupuncture, plus endless vitamins and supplements, plus time of work etc etc! Our savings have definitely taken a massive beating. I'm with QFG/Eve Health at Spring Hill and have been very happy with them.

Day 5 update - not great for me. Two early blasts - not hatching yet so can't be biopsied - they will check them later today and see where they are at otherwise they will let them go to day 6. 9 of the others are still going but are only a mixture of compacting and cavitating morulas. She said its 50/50 as to whether any of those make blastocyst by tomorrow and are able to be biopsied. Feel pretty down about it all that out of 12 fertilised I may end up with nothing to test. Now another 24 hours wait until the final call.
