Welcome @Twiglets and good luck with your two week torture (TWT). When is your BT?
@Gagingi I'd find the right section on bubhub, maybe even the same s~x section, and do a post making it clear that you'd like to donate it to a woman whose treatment is classed as social ivf. And that it must be collected from your home as its a refrigerated medication.
I think if we knew what the social IVFers were paying for their meds we'd pass out!
That's why when I was doing stim cycles and the drugs were 'free' (included in the ivf cost) I'd get as much as possible so I could pass them on to social IVFers later. It may not be ethical to get your hands on as many meds as you can but I know, as a single woman, I quite genuinely couldn't have afforded to do ivf if LB hadn't generously classed me as 'medical IVF'.

@Bongley thanks for that info. Endocrinologist handed management back to GP years ago and then FS#1 intervened when we were first TTC (he wanted stricter management). I'll contact FS#2 tomorrow as I'm down regging for cycle already, so imagine I won't be able to get into Endocrinologist without stopping cycle. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid. My situation is not as serious as Graves - as that is what they thought it was at first. That said I'm at the same age as a number of friends have been when their thyroids seized, so shouldn't be too blasé. I didn't know you could get Graves whilst pregnant.
I take thyroxine for hypo, but Graves is hyper?
I hope one you are traveling well?
Thanks @Tahli. They now put the full cost on the box as part of the government's marketing program and it's astronomical. I'd not have been able to afford social IVF either and that was only taking into account cycle costs without Medicare rebates - I hadn't thought about drug costs on top of that! I'll definitely follow it up as FS is generous with provisions. For each medication I just pay the $37, regardless of quantity - as you'll probably find with your upcoming OE cycle.
@Gagingi On my last OE IVF cycle, I remember standing in Slade pharmacy and adding up the true cost of all meds and saying to the woman on the cash register "Can that be right? I'm walking out of here with $6,000 worth of drugs?". I felt like a drug dealer walking to the car. Needless to say I kept my Slade bags well hidden while I did my errands that arvo!!
Its a good initiative, putting the real prices on the meds. It made me more appreciative that's for sure, to have access to Medicare as a single woman and to live in Australia.
PS: thanks for the suggestion of the dog matching sites on the net. I'm using them now.
Definitely follow up with regards to thyroid antibodies, if you leave them & don't treat them (normally with a naturopath as doctors don't really have an answer) they can totally destroy your thyroid gland over time & then you will be dependent on a Thyroxine for life.
I had quite high antibodies with Hashimotos & cured it completely which doctors say is impossible 😊
Hi ladies I have been reading the forums for a little while looking for advice but I was hoping to join this thread as I wait to start my third IVF cycle. You all seem like such a friendly and knowledgable bunch and it can seem so isolating at times! A little about me, I am nearly 42 with a two year old conceived naturally. I miscarried at the end of 2014 and in Oct 15 DH and I did first ivf cycle which resulted in a bfn, second cycle straight after resulted in BFP but 7 week scan showed not viable so have just had a D&C. Have agreed with FS to do another cycle, I have two frozen but I am worried this may be last cycle as age against me and I get low numbers. Anyway enough about me, I hope you don't mind me joining in and I wish you all the best of luck in 2016, it is a tough road xx
@Tahli I am very excited that you are moving towards doing an OE cycle! I think it has been on your mind for a while & if you don't do it you might always wonder what might have been. At least this way you will know.
I have never even gotten to EPU as I am a very poor responder, but I still want to do one more OE cycle to know that I tried everything. I will be doing it in March now so that I've got a couple of months to make sure I'm in the best health possible.
Couldn't help myself, BFN today but still no AF, four days late now - unheard of!
Welcome @Krissy74. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. How very sad. You'll find this is a great group of supportive women, if not a little mad! Good luck with your upcoming cycle.
@Summer Thanks Hun! I'm sorry it was another bfn this morning. Do you think the Bell's palsy or personal stress might have had you ovulating later this month? It sounds like we're going to be doing a March cycle together if all goes well! Yay!!
@Chiefsgirl I hope you're feeling better now?
