I'm not a dog person (I adore cats!) and I swore if I ever got a dog there was only one breed I would get and that was a chocolate coloured border collie. Any tips from the dog lovers?
@Tahli there are various breed-selector tools on the Internet that take into account family needs, kids, lifestyle factors etc. A special doggie companion would be great for your DS when you are looking after your planned bubba.

Personally we grew up with Labradors and they are awesome with kids and most will chase a stick or frisbee all day. Labradoodles are also becoming very popular (lovely nature and no shedding), but are very expensive. Border collies are gorgeous, but I think they they need heaps and heaps of constant activity, plus mental stimulation, or they act out? ...Given you're a cat lover, I'd be tempted to get a puppy and kitten together and then they'll look after each other too...

We've got a gorgeous cat who is keeping us (sort-of) sane through this whole IVF journey, we'd be lost without her.

I'm just wondering if they both stuck but then one didn't make it and thats why it went down? I really don't know. How frustrating for you both.
