Are there any dog lovers out there? I'd like to get my 4 y/o son a doggie companion...one that is quite active as my son loves to sprint and sprint and sprint , loves sticks and a dog that can sleep with him at night...a best mate to grow up with. I'm not a dog person (I adore cats!) and I swore if I ever got a dog there was only one breed I would get and that was a chocolate coloured border collie. Any tips from the dog lovers?

I love golden retrievers. E loves dogs but we are still renting and dont have the space and time to look after them. When we go away our vet nurse minds our cats for us at home.

@Tahli. I want a dog too!! But I can't have one yet.. I agree with midnight Golden retrievers are great family dogs. Beautiful temperament. I think it would be perfect.

Hmmm I'm not on anything. Should I be on something?

Wow Charlie74, that's really impressive! It drives me mental that I was like clockwork and now nothing happens. It's like a reassuring event - like at least that part of me is working.

@Tahli My friend has a golden retriever pup that needs walking 2 hours a day beautiful dog though. We've got two whippets, they are really good with kids and lazy by comparison, although any puppies are hard work. Good in apartments too as they don't bark much.

I'm a crazy dog lady, I have a Shihtzu poodle and he is an awesome little dog, follows me everywhere, doesn't shed, and sleeps between our pillows at night, loves to play but will lie beside you all day as well
