Default Returning to ivf for 2nd child

    Hi,
My little boy is 16mth & I'm wondering how long people TTC naturally before going back to ivf? We had unexplained infertility so not sure how long we should keep trying for?
    Thanks

Our DD is 18 months & we're about to go back for more IVF. No BC since she was born but I BF for 14 months so not really trying.
If I didn't have frozen embies I would look at trying for 6 months before going back for more IVF . I guess going back for a FET is not as daunting as a full cycle.
Depends on lots of factors, maybe have an appt with your FS to talk over your situation?

Yes absolutely I agree it depends on many factors. We still have 1 frozen day 5 embryo so it def seems less daunting that's for sure.

It would depending on a few factors

    1. Being age...

But I also probably (I'm also unexplained) if age was on my side 6 months, but I think I would probably go straight back if I could afford it

Such a dilemma! We have 3 on ice (1 child so far). DH is adamant he wants to try all 3 whether that means 1 child or 4. I just don't know how I would feel in your situation?

Default Returning to ivf for 2nd child

Our DD was IVF. We tried naturally for around 9 months then went back to IVF, in hindsight trying naturally was a waste of time for us. I'm now 5mths with bub no. 2 after 2 fresh cycles, one resulting in a miscarriage earlier in the year. I guess age would be a major factor and keep in mind it may not work first or second time back, depends on your reasons for IVF I guess. We now have one more frozen and plan on going back once this bub is 8mths, which is just before I'm 40. If it doesn't work then we are done at two.

And just to add that our DD was just over 2 when we went back, we'll have a 3.5yr gap which suits us.

We ttc naturally for 9 months (from when DD was about 10months old). I have endo so knew the sooner the better however did not feel ready to be back at ivf again. We went back for an FET when DD was 16mths and I was financially, physically and emotionally ready to cycle again.
I would say start when you are ready, not when you feel you should.

Thanks everyone for your advice. Time is on my side as I just turned 30 I am happy/ready to do a FET but I don't think I'm ready emotionally to start with the meds etc all over again. I think I'll book in an appt with my fert specialist & take it from there.
