@monnie24 Maxi dresses can be very elegant, formal and classy.... There are many styles and not all are beachy. Any of the following would be totally acceptable for a Christening (there are hundreds I just found, but since you asked for examples, what do you think of these? Even teamed with a cardi if you feel dressier doing so).

Even still, I agree with others, such a direct request and fairly restrictive dress code seems over the top, Christening or not..
I intend on getting my bridesmaids to possibly wear maxi dresses or something similar. Some are very casual but there are a lot at very cheap prices that are quite dressy
I don't think God would care at all if you came to church in a string bikini either, but other humans might have an issue with it.
