We do it include the higher premiums as its not a cover we usually have (as in pregnancy cover).

Just had a look at my Medicare claims history after the medicare rebate we paid $2316 for the PMF.

I guess it all depends upon if you exhaust the safety net in the calendar year.

Scans public were $200 for us with DD1, whereas our ob referred us to another provider who were $300 for DD2.

Which fund are you with ? Maybe they cover more ? I'm with BUPA !
I'm bupa too oby for my 6 week check GP for dd2

    Default Redlands Hospital catchment area

Hi, at Sunnybank centre for women delivering at Sunnybank private u should be about 2.5k oop total plus excess.... Their fees are lower than most and u can discuss options for higher vs lower cost scans, they are happy to advise u how high a risk u are or if a bulk bill place would be OK, they do mini scan in rooms every consult no extra charge. Some of the most exp u/s places are 380ish per scan but they're very good....
They only share on call btw 2 of them so u know ur obs! U can also see their midwife for some appt if u want. Dr Nelson is happy with most birth choices, he's not hard and fast about any set way. He also does shared care ( cheaper) so u can along the way where to deliver. Does sat appts to so don't need to take as much time off work for check ups.
One of the big issues with fees are the Drs appts and scans out of hospital are Medicare not private health ( everyone) hence why there's oop expenses....u will get better rebates since ur preg and delivery will be over one calendar ur not two.

Hi, I know dr n at sc4w, which I mentioned general fees of earlier, I asked and he said he could suggest ways you could def get it down to 2k tops, with a private delivery at Sunnybank. Call him, he usually answers own phone on Thursdays as its his admin day.

Sunnybank centre for women. His costs are same but he does prefer Sunnybank for deliveries, greenslopes is fancy like hotel but Sunnybank staff are more the good old fashioned service. Rooms are bigger at Sunnybank which is nice. He does do either though. He was initially gunna set up his consult rooms closer to greenslopes but changed mind after meeting with both hospitals.

I ended up having my first, Daniel, with Dr Joseph Jabbour from sunnybank centre for women and he was great! very supportive and listens to every thing and takes his time explaining everything. He is really thorough. I had my baby in sunnybank private but I was offered the choice between greenslopes and sunnybank. I live closer to sunnybank so it was easier. I paid 2000 PMF and he will give me a 500 discount on my next! Planning for my next in 1 year hopefully. The scans were all free which was excellent. Kathie the midwife that works with them is amazing! I am very happy with my decision. Where did you end up going?
