Default Moving House With a Toddler

How do you stay sane through the process?

DH, DD almost 19 months, and I are moving from our 2 bedroom unit to a 3 bedroom unit tomorrow, and I'm getting a bit stressed out. We still have quite a bit of packing to do, and I have to work tomorrow from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, so things could get rather hairy around here.

I just moved with a 5&3yo and a newborn from Brisbane to Canberra.

It was not fun. I packed/unpacked at night when they were asleep. I'm still unpacking 1wk later.

We're in the process of moving (back) from Canberra to Newcastle. It's slow going. When we moved down we still had things to pack up the morning we moved. We also had to sedate the cat and clean the old place. We have no help this time. We've already started to pack, even though we haven't yet confirmed lease on a house in Newcastle.
I stay sane by having a plan of attack for packing, cleaning and then unpacking and cleaning at the other end. I'm also lucky because DH and I both have 2 weeks off around moving time.

If possible get some help from friends. I moved house with newborn and 19 month old and it's virtually impossible to do anything whilst trying to look after the kids. So my dh had to do all the packing and moving on the day while I kept the kids out of the way. He had a friend to help with the lifting and I had some friends with a toddler who came over to help. The toddlers loved the excitement and it meant I could clean up as we were going along.
