Default Hit me with your PMS remedies!

So it's another month, and another week of being barely functional due to PMS and I'm over it!

For me it's not moodiness/teariness so much as just feeling flat, low and joyless in general. Crap motivation, low energy etc.

Ideally I wish I could pop a pill just for the week but I don't think that's been invented yet :-)

Does anyone else feel similar? What are some things that work for you?

I have been taking magnesium and it had been working wonders for a few months, however last 2 cycles the irritability, low mood and sore boobs & pimples have started again :/ trying some evening primrose oil just to get me through the next week or 2 and see how it goes. Hopefully its just a random flucuation of hormones and will settle down again.

So just a magnesium tablet every day? Or just during that time in the cycle? Does it have any side effects?

Oh i feel you! Although its not a once a week every month thing for me (bf has stopped all the for over 2years), but its more of a every other day thing for myself. I started taking vitamin B and inner health plus, (im bad at remembering to take them though) but when i do remember i notice a pretty big difference. I also spend alot of time writting wether it be poems, letters, random short stories etc, i do adult colouring and if im really luck DS goes to bed nicely and ill watch a movie of a night with a nice cold bourbon lol
Sorry its not the best advise, im yet to find somthing that works properly but for now they're my go to's

Vitamin B6 and evening primrose oil. I swear by them. My PMS was out of control. I take magnesium daily which helps with period pain (very well) but I was still a raving lunatic with PMS. My naturopath recommended the above. Best.thing.ever. I take 1 B6 tablet and 2 evening primrose capsules per day 10 days before AF is due.

    It is seriously miraculous.

Oh yes forgot to mention vitamin d. Magnesium and vitamin d should be taken together. I also take b vitamins, thats my absolute staple vitamin that I've relied on for years, I am crazy without it

Just as an aside, there are some ladies who take low dose fluoxetine (anti-depressant) just for a week or so each cycle to help them. Not saying it's a solution for you, but the hormone mood thing can be full on! If you try evening primrose oil, just be aware it may cause issues when you stop it, like spotting/bleeding and mood issues. But it can be very effective as well.

Would anyone say these supplements help them with period related absent mindedness? I cannot function as a proper human during Af. I forget everything, cannot think ahead, cannot make plans, cannot do the simplest of tasks. It's almost debilitating. I can't continue to live like this for 1/4 of the year.
