This is so funny to read 😊. I think I'm 50% bogan - we have down lights, coffee table, 2 fridges (one is a drinks fridge with beer, wine and soft drinks), I wear trackies if i can get away with it. DH and SS both have commodores. DH is watering the garden right now in shorts, singlet (with holden print) and thongs. We live in the burbs. I'm sitting here in leggins, t-shirt, bra off and a glass of wine. Very classy. On the flip side i have a very corporate job and drive an Audi. I think DH is 100% bogan and he's influencing me. 😄

I would absolutely say that Liberal party voters are resolutely right wing, Labor left of centre and Greens absolute Left.

I agree somewhat with your theory, most true bogans, aspirational or otherwise that I know are right wing

I had to google the whole left/right wing cause I couldn't for the life of me remember and liberals are centre right, labour centre left and greens are the most left. Don't have any other insightful comments but most bogans I know are lefties but at least my memory is refreshed 🤓

I agree with you, I was originally confused by hollywood's post. In the States 'liberals' are democrats or greens, the left wing. But Australia's Liberal party is definitely right wing, equivalent to the States Republican Party. I agree that the definition of liberal means left wing but when talking about specific parties 'Liberal' is the right wing. I do agree that most bogans are right wing but not all right wingers are bogans, if that makes sense?

I had to google too, and found this:

I was possibly thinking of the 'conservative right' when thinking of bogans. And of course the fact that the greens on the extreme left are generally not bogans.

liberal party in Australia is the conservative right, labor is the left and not sure of greens. prob more left than labor but with more of a focus on individualism whereas labor is a bit more "nanny state" in its thinking.

there's a quiz online you can do to find out where you fit in in the political matrix. quite interesting IMO.

Pauline Hanson would have to be the ultimate example of right wing bogan gone too far.

The political bogan stuff is interesting and conflicting. I initially thought yes I can attribute bogan to political views but after thinking about it and the people I know, I'm finding it harder. Initially though I would have attributed bogan to labor/unions etc... Liberal to white collar/educated (stereotypes I know) totally anecdotal and from my own experiences.
