We have a unit like the IKEA trofast with 6 tub drawers.

There are also a couple of large baskets in DS's room and some toys are stashed in the cupboards of his play kitchen.

Way too many toys in this house - regular culls are essential!

We have bits and pieces like this shelf

It was functional at one point, with Lego, meccano etc it just no longer is.

We have a little bench that doubles as storage which comes in handy.ImageUploadedByThe Bub Hub1451733192.900243.jpg

I've been wanting to get the ikea trofast but was worried with how much would fit in the tubs, but after reading this thread I think I'm definitely going to get some!

    Both my kids have these.

You can often find them cheap on gumtree. They are well priced and sturdy and you can get whatever combination of box sizes u need.

I am not sure if ikea sell them anymore, I haven't seen them there but I have found them in fantastic furniture. I got one for ds' room from there, it's the 8 cube and it was $80 from memory.

IKEA still sell them. They used to be called 'expedit' but I think they are now called 'kallax'. Bunnings sell a version too.
