    Default Christmas Declutter

I know a few of us will be in the same boat. Receiving a lot of gifts that we cannot fit anywhere and those of us with kids - more toys!

I thought maybe this could be a good place for us to share ideas of where/who we can donate all our extra and unwanted items.

For example, I now have a huge excess of books for DS (I love books and I think he has waaaaaaay too many now). The same applies to toys.

As usual I have clothes for me and DS that are no longer needed. Rather than just put them in the charity bins (I can imagine they would be super full this time of the year) I was hoping I could donate somewhere where it is really needed. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Note: I don't want to sell on Ebay or Gumtree.

Near were we live there is a little community library - a children's one near a playground and an adults one near the train station. All they are are decorated boxes where you can leave and swap books. I'm thinking of putting our unwanted books in there.

I donated a whole lot of books to my local library. I'm sure a library would love kids books

Donate excess books to Lifeline for them to sell at their annual bookfairs.

Or toys, books, clothes to women's refuges.

Another option would be to a charity who help asylum seekers resettle in Australia. There is a really good one in Melbourne but the name escapes me at the moment.

I had planned on giving some clothes to a refuge my cousin is involved with. Might throw some toys in too.

I like the idea of the children's hospital etc. I will get in contact with someone this week to find out where to drop some things off.

I also discovered I have a bunch of towels etc that i can get rid of so will take to the local vet/shelter.
