I should add we get gifts from most of the doctors over the Christmas season. Usually it's boxes of chocolates and the like, but this year one of our doctors bought in a tray of mangos for each of the wards. It's lovely and a real thank you. Handwritten cards from the doctors and their families. Sometimes their kids have drawn pictures in the card. That's the kind of thing I love. The personalised touches that doesn't reek of mass production.

Nope. I'm on leave at the moment, but the staff 'on the floor' so to speak don't get gifts. It's a large not-for-profit (about 450 staff). The office/corporate staff may well get gifts.

I have received gifts in the past. It then became a half day off work but as of this year we get nothing.

Yes, it is a big company.

I was always grateful for any gifts but really appreciated half a day off to relax!

I'm so sorry but on first glance I saw wooden pen*s and lost it like a teenage schoolgirl.

Nope. DH works for 2 large corporates and never gets a single thing, gift or otherwise and certainly not a pay rise. I'm kind of jealous at some of the gifts you girls get! Given Dh's employers are making big time profits you would think they could give something, even a basket of their products which would work out cheap for them.

Default Do you get a gift from your employer for Christmas

Possibly the largest employer in NSW and we don't get anything, but we do get 6 weeks off

It's lovely we get gifts but they're all corporate branded so wherever you use these items, you're essentially advertising the company for free. At least they're useful items!

Last year rather than a gift they donated whatever money they would supposedly spend on gifts to the staff emergency fund. Basically it's a fund set up to help staff in times of financial hardship. If anyone is in a dire way they can apply for financial assistance. I actually think we were undersold because there's no way what they donated would even come close to what they would actually spend on gifts. I think it was a cost cutting measure...

It may sound greedy, but while the thought it nice, something tangible would be a much nicer recognition of how hard we've been working our asses off. We get screwed over on a lot of things so it would be nice to have something to say they appreciate how hard we're working. I'm not saying anything massive. Heck, even a handwritten/personalised card from the executives would be a nice thank you.

It is a large hospital. I would hazard a guess there are a few thousand employees all up.
    I don't understand the question?....

Haha, looks like we don't get anything this year either @M'LadyEm I've been waiting for the notice. Glad I took two extra umbrellas in 2013 because those backpacks were rubnish hehe. My dept is terrible, we don't even get a Christmas party. We get a byo lunch and it has to be in our lunchbreak. No time for socialising!

Haha I think the cooler bags were the worst. I didn't actually get that one as I was away and no one thought to get one for me. I don't think I missed out! The bag I use all the time... when I go to the pool/gym. I don't use it in public otherwise. The umbrellas were the best. Went to a friends wedding. Had to put my umbrella in a different spot to everyone else's because they were all the same!

Don't get me started on the awful Christmas lunch the other day. Wth happened to a full roast and dessert?

In all fairness, I think we are pretty spoilt with pancakes and all the cupcakes that we get throughout the year.
