I told her that if they stretch the Gonal-F out for 10 days I am basically guaranteed to ovulate before I get to my scan on 03/02/16.

The Doctor has prescribed Orgalutran for me. I've never had it before. Apparently it will stop me from ovulating? Has anyone tried it before and what are your thoughts? I am petrified I will grow all these beautiful follies and then jump the gun on everyone and ovulate....

@Blossom74 - I have been on orgalutran for the two cycles I've done and will be doing it again for this cycle. So far both times it's worked and I haven't ovulated prior to EPU. It's really important to inject the orgalutran at exactly the same time each morning as it only has a 24 hour life - so ok if you inject earlier than 24 hours one morning but just don't let more than 24 hours elapse between injections.

Yeah but everyone in the family (and friends) will know except for them, we're just getting it out there as soon as possible (it's just the way we want to handle it). They will find out from someone else so it may as well be me. Just not sure how/when to tell them. Maybe I'll tell everyone else to keep schtum until I visit (hopefully) later in the year. Then I can shout it into my mother's ear using an ear trumpet and use a white board to explain it to my dad. At least they aren't very religious, then things would be really tricky.

@Blossom74 - the orgalutran is fine - slightly bigger needle but so far in two cycles it has worked for me and I haven't ovulated early. It will give you piece of mind that you're not going to drop the eggs before EPU. It's really important not to let more than 24 hours pass between injections of orgalutran as it only has a 24 hour life - apparently even 3O mins over can risk early ovulation before EPU.

    Default IVF over 40#23

@Blossom74 I've used Orgalutran too, and it's worked fine for me. The needles are a little bigger as someone said, but not too bad. I think maybe it's just a FS preference - my first FS used a combination of Gonal-F with Cetrotide to stop ovulation. My second FS used Menopur with the Orgalutran (which by the way was the winning combo for me, giving me better numbers & quality). Very exciting for you to be starting a new cycle 😀😀

So I gather it's really important to inject the Orgalutran every 24 hours?!

Thanks for the multiple reminders BH!
