Default Car seat question - Jetstar

DS and I are flying interstate with Jetstar on Thursday and we've booked for carry-on baggage only (7kg each).

Do they allow you to check in car seats free of charge if you have a young child, regardless of the fare you've booked?

I haven't been able to find a clear cut answer online, and I've heard it takes a long time to get through to Jetstar to ask the question on the phone.

Can anyone confirm what the deal is?

Hi we have flown with Jetstar numerous times and they have always let us check the car seat for free.. I also did a quick check as I don't remember anything official about it.. One Jetstar page was a bit vague but this one http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/plannin...hecked-baggage seems to say they allow it (bottom quarter of page) hope this helps

I haven't flown with my girls for a while but when I have, you could check in one child item like a car seat or pram as checked luggage regardless of having carry on luggage.

Call centre wait isn't that bad...but it's mainly overseas ones answering all the time after hours

99% sure you can take child car seats regardless of your fare. It's not a service you pay for. You can also take prams.

All airlines allow car seats/prams or a porta cot free of charge. Most airlines allow max 2 pieces. I do recommend getting a quality cover for it.
