I look on webjet to find the cheapest one then book with the airline themselves.

Usually, tiger is the cheapest (but I will not fly with them). So I ring jetstar, tell them that tiger has the same time/destination flight for $ x, and then they beat it by 10%!

Join all the airline face book page and your local airport one too. They let you know when good deals are on and the airport ones often have great competitions

Web jet are great for comparing. Don't forget tiger if they fly in your area.
Some day are way cheaper and some time slots are way cheaper.

    Thanks everyone!

I found Jetstar were the cheapest by a long shot (even with their crazy credit card surcharges). I booked via their website.

Clear your Cookies and history from your web browser, just in case. I've read that some airlines use browsing history to guess at how desperate/eager you are to book a flight, and escalate the price accordingly.

Don't know if it's true, but it wouldn't surprise me!

Clear your cookies as they often increase the price if you keep on looking at the same dates/destinations.
