DS stool test result is normal. The gastroenterologist doesn't think there is a need to change formula unless we insist. He actually suggested us to start solid slowly. His opinion is that it works better for babies like DS. Again, we were told to wait it out. Cry. easier to say when they aren't the one seeing him suffer everyday. 5 mins of his time. I felt so cheated for the money we paid and a month of waiting. the stool result is all we get. He didn't even remember to give me a new prescription of losec until I reminded him.

I asked him about the tongue tie. My friends friend mentioned that to me so I thought I would check. He referred me to the dr next door. Luckily, we could just see the dr straight away so no extra trip. It turned out that DS has type 2! Omg, how could the paed miss it? I should have known better given that the paed was all about PURPLE crying and wasn't interested in thinking outside the box. I feel so stupid now not pursuing it further when DS fussed so much while BF, i had sore nipples, he didn't drain my breasts well and making funny clicking sound while taking the bottle! Both of us did wonder about that clicking sound with the bottle for a while. He seems to swallow a lot of air by doing it. We thought DS was just playing and fussing with the teat. He pauses to drink all the time. This might not be the entire reason that he has so much gas but certainly is a contribution to it!
@Gelati: who spotted your DS tongue tie? Which degree?

PS: So.....because DS is 4 months old now. The surgeon can't do the snip in his office. We have to wait until he is older so he can go under. DS will have stitches as well. :'(

@bbhope oh crap!!! That's so annoying that the tongue tied wasn't diagnosed early. I'd be furious. DD's tongue tied was spotted by both paed and lactation consultant when she was 3 days old. We had the clip done the next day. It was very minor too. Paed told me it might not help with BF because it was so minor but let's just get it done.

With the stool result being normal, is that what you wanted or would you prefer to know something is wrong so can be fixed? I'm asking this because it can be frustrating when everything comes back normal yet Bub is in pain every night after a feed.
@Gelati haha yeah I'm looking at comfy shoes and haven't touched all other shoes. I want to buy the converse. It looks so comfy and quite good with jeans or skirts. My shoe size seems to be the same. But I have only been wearing the same 3 pairs. Haven't tried others. How did DS go at your mums last night? We went out last night without DD. mum came over to babysit. She was good for mum. Didn't cry and slept after the feed but I missed her heaps and only went out for 3 hours!

@Excited1: I PM you. No because we already saw the gastroenterologist. I plan to see your paed for follow up from now on. Because I don't get anything extra from the gastroenterologist. The surgery will be done by a different dr. That says I think I should see him for a second opinion.

I don't know. Result normal is good knowing he isn't bleeding inside his gut or anything. On the other hand, still not ruling out cow milk protein allergy.

@bbhope oh no not another thing! Poor you and dear son. Oh god he will need stitches? Must be a bad tongue tie. I can't believe they didn't spot it. Ours was spotted by the mid wife that delivered him. She was magnificent. But she said only very minor. Paed came and and said no tongue tie. But when I had supply issues I saw the LC and she referred me to a tongue tied gp specialist. She had a look and agreed it's minor and like minib said if I wasn't having supply issues she would just leave it but given its so minor can't hurt to do it so he got the snip and even tho it was minor I still felt a difference with breastfeeding. This may be your answer to your breastfeeding problems.

As for the test result in glad to hear he is ok but I'm sure you are still frustrated not knowing the problem.. How come it didn't rule out cows protein allergy? How has ds been lately? Getting better on the new formula?

@Minib - yeh I do feel like it's a bit bigger cos some of my old shoes fit tighter but when I try on new shoes I'm still my old size. Go figure! Ds was so good for my mum. Slept 9pm-6am then did 6:30 - 9:30 then did another 1.5 hrs. Think it will be catnapping the rest of the day tho but that's ok. I think we wore him out at chaddy! Haha. Aww your dd was a good girl. I know I miss him loads too!! But we have so much to take care of this weekend so I just go by throughout the day and play with him and put him to bed. Today when he saw me he grabbed my clothes and wouldn't let go. When I pulled away he started crying terribly. Aw I felt so bad being away from him so long.

Ya the surgeon looked at us, shook his head, and said why this wasn't spotted until now. I always thought I didn't have enough milk and too slow flow that's why DS fussed. I am so sad that now DS has to suffer longer with gas pain and starting solid might be a challenge because of his tongue. Such a stupid mother!

Te only way to rule out allergy is taken out of his diet. DH is keen to switch it back to nan comfort since the HA formula doesn't do anything and makes his reflux worse. We can try neocate (extensive hydrolysed formula) if we want but the specialist just doesn't think it is the cause. He have seen babies like DS stomach settles down when starting solid.

Oh so annoying. We went out for an hr. Ds was so tired but he just wouldn't sleep in the pram!!! The moment we put him in car seat, he cried angry and fell asleep. But we had to take him out when we got home. Sigh...doesn't look like we can go out with him for long.

@bbhope don't be so hard on yourself. We are all new at this motherhood gig and we rely so much on professionals to give us guidance. I trusted the mid wife and not the paed but yet I still didn't know what to do. When paed said no tongue tied I was like oh who do I see to get another opinion? So when I saw LC when he was 2 weeks old then she was able to point me in the right direction. I wish I had done it at 3 days old but didn't know who to see. We all are just doing the best we can. I am annoyed that the professionals are so bad tho.
