Bub is now fussing on my bad boob. How am I going to clear it if he won't suck, pump doesn't get as much out. I'm so over it. I went and got ultrasound therapy on it today and luckily ds sucked on it and I got 3 let downs. Apparently if i don't get it flowing after 30min of doing the therapy it's not as effective. Talk about pressure!!

I repeat I am so over it. I just want the mastitis to clear then I will reassess breastfeeding. This is just not healthy for me or Bub. Poor guy has to suck for 30-45min. No time left for play and development. I might move to just expressing and formula no more boobs. It's way too stressful.

Sorry about the 'me' post. I just having a vent.

@Gelati oh gosh this is so frustrating for you!!! You are so entitled to be over it. Seriously!!! What a lot of pressure after the therapy. I think you should do what's best not to stress both you and DS. He's 10 weeks old now yeah? He's got the best of your BF anyway even if you start more mixed feeding.

Do you feel all the let down during BF? I don't have strong letdown feel during BF. Only feel them when I'm not BF.

@Minib - thanks yeh it's been an uphill battle and I keep getting hurdles thrown my way. When will I catch a break? I should be grateful that I have a beautiful son so I keep telling myself that. Even if I can't continue breastfeeding I'll just have to deal with the consequences if he develops constipation or fussiness etc. he is 11 weeks on Friday I will reassess at 12 weeks. Not long to go now. I feel so bad for all of us low supply women. It's just so hard and then it's so hard to get him down to sleep and he only sleeps 30min. I keep hearing of these babies that eat and sleep. What a dream that would be.

    How are you travelling?

I feel the let down less now. Nurse said my boobs are stabilising that's why I feel empty but I'm not? I feel like I get less let downs tho and takes longer to get a let down now so it must be less supply. But yeh apparently it's cos my boobs have stabilised. She also said at around 6-8 weeks bubs doesn't poop as often either which is why I don't see as many. He did the hugest poop last night and then another big one this morning. But none since. No idea if it's the antibiotics I'm taking or if it's my mastitis. That's why I just want to get me well. Then I can get on with looking after ds whether than be breastfeeding or not.

I am so sorry to hear @Gelati. Mastitis sucks. The therapy should have helped. You have come a long way for BF and do very well. I was far from getting enough. Perhaps just hang on a little bit longer? Of course, your sanity is important.

How are you going? Have you looked at nannies?

    Catching up on previous posts.
@Gelati thanks I know j shouldn't beat myself up as everyone has different supply. I can't help it sometimes. Can you get Bub a weigh in on Friday?
@bbhope if I were in your shoes I wouldn't bother to pump too. I would chose sleep then food first. You only have certain amount of time when Bub is sleeping. You've tried your best and I'm glad you have come to terms about it. I think you are doing an amazing job.
@Leksie5000 thanks for the advise. I don't have oat for breakfast but might start. Will buy some tomorrow. @Gelati I think you were having oat for breakfast as well?

I don't think Bub is going through a growth spurt yet but she's definitely more fussy now than 2 weeks ago.

I have a good mix of BF and bottle feed babies in my group of friends. In fact the bottle feed one seems to be thriving and not get sick a lot. Who would have thought that BF is soooo stressful!

Bub is now over 4 weeks and we've had our 4 week MHN appointment. I'm so glad to say she put on 500g in 12 days. A little tubby lol babe doesn't look chubby as she's long. MHN is happy with what I'm doing. She said continue with top up if I want until I'm fully confident that my BF is enough. I think she doesn't want to stress me out. We talked about anxiety etx as she's sussing out if I have pnd. I said no but I have anxiety thinking about expressing and lack of supply. And my mind is quite consumed by it. That's why she told me to not worry so much about expressing in the arvo if I want to go out and have some fresh air. I can put Bub on the boob a bit more when I'm out and express when I'm home.

So today first day without DH and mum. We survived!! We even went shopping today. She was a bit fussy so I took her to chadstone lol. Bought a few things for her and a couple things for me to get through my fat days. I don't want to wear my maternity clothes but can't fit my normal clothes yet.

I'll call my hospital tomorrow and try to book another lactation class. Need to work on the latching for right boob. I hope I don't need to pay the hospital excess fee given its a new calendar year.
@Gelati take it one day at a time. You've done a brilliant job to be BF for 11 weeks so far. I hope I can last that long!

@Minib: you are so brave about taking DD out. We are struggling to just get DS around the corner with the pram. We brought him for the passport photo and he was crying on the way home in the car. DH wasn't in a good mood after we got home from the walk. Why our baby cries while other babies sit happily in the pram and car seat?? Sigh.

Yes, i am contacting few babysitters in the area. This is for the week when DH is out of town for business. I need sleep. It is difficult decision. I prefer to have someone who is a mom to babysit at this stage. They would have experience with baby. However, the mom would have to take care of their own kid(s) as well. Will DS get less attention?

@bbhope which probiotic did you give ds and how did you give it? Ds had a horrible night and I think it's cos the antibiotics I'm taking are starting to affect him. Sigh will this ever end?

@bbhope did you have any luck finding a babysitter? Would the babysitter come to your house? So it wouldn't matter if they have their own kids? Otherwise maybe find an older lady who is experienced but no kids to mind themselves.
@Gelati are you feeling better today? This mastitis is a vicious cycle. Impact everything. You suck big time mastitis.

@bbhope - you could get a mum who has kids that are in primary school now? They will still have pretty relevant experience. Anyone you can ask for a referral? Maybe MHN can help.

@Minib - sorry didn't read your earlier post but awesome news about the weight! What a relief that must have been yay you!!

I'm feeling def better today and had another round of ultrasound and final round tmr. Private health pays for some of it so that's good. Yeh illness of any kind in the mother affects everything dam it!! I can't wait till mastitis is gone and I'm off antibiotics so I can get back on track. It's been 2 weeks now from when I first got sick with a cold. I feel like things would have been so good by now if I hadn't gotten sick and it makes me so upset. But I can't live in the past and just take one day at a time. I fell asleep with ds in bed today for the first time ever I was so tired. Couldn't bear the thot of needing to soothe him so for the last let down I just did it in bed and then we both fell asleep for an hr. Thank god I needed that. Wonder what tonight will bring....

Positive news is I got 6-7 let downs today after not feeding for 4 hrs. Hopefully supply is returning a bit. Gotta keep looking for the good things otherwise I'd be so depressed.
