My doc said its a blood test you can do which pics up Down syndrome (and other things) by 99% but costs $500 no rebates
How is that test done?
NT is the standard test. Harmony is a fairly new one it's much more accurate and much more expensive.
I had a nuchal translucency done with my son and it was a combination of a blood test and scan and it checked for downs and the different trisomy and stuff.
Harmony is just a blood test don't know about the others
Thanks mrstugs I hadnt heard of it before is it combined with a scan?
I will ask obstetrician about it I went to a man named frank carmody for all my milestone scans and he was amazing checking for downs and trisomy they do it with a blood test and it was quite accurate I thought the only way to be certain was by doing amnio I will definitely look into harmony
My harmony test was combined with a scan. After we got results back they did what they call a structural scan where they measured everything from the babies, head, legs, arms, stomach, spine, etc. The pics were so clear was amazing. Could actually see the chambers of the heart and the hemispheres of the brain. They also did a nuchal fold measurement. It can also detect the sex of the baby through the DNA of the blood test but it only detects male DNA as I've got female DNA. So it did tell us there was male DNA but we won't know until 20 week morphology scan of its two boys or boy and girl. Test was expensive but being a bit older and with twins was high risk so we didn't want to take any chances.
Definitely dont want to risk anything. My son looked like a gummy bear in the 3d part of the nuchal fold scan. The dna part sounds cool though
