Default 6 weeks 6 days and low heartbeat?!

I am six weeks six days and had an u/s today. Everything measured spot on and has done so far. My hcg has always been high and scans great ( I am being monitored closely as I have had recurrent chemicals) . I did have a bit of spotting at the beginning but nothing for a while.

My concern is that although there was a heartbeat it was only 85bpm. My OB (who specialises in recurrent m/c) didn't even mention it. Told me everything looked fine and come back in two weeks.

Then I made the mistake of googling and it said 90-110 is the norm, and there is quite a risk for m/c with lower. Of course I freaked out and called the clinic, the nurse said it is probably fine, that the heart has probably just started beating but she would check with my doc. My OB then said it was fine, it is just early and he doesn't think it is indicative of anything sinister.

I am still freaking out...... My DS heart rate was 144 at this stage. Does anyone have experience with low heart rate around the seven week mark? It has taken so long to get pregnant...I am so scared of losing it.

I probably can't say much to reassure you, I know how stressful this stage is. Just wanted to send hugs. For what it's worth DS2 started with a borderline low heart rate too, which picked up soon after. Maybe ask for a repeat scan? Sending good vibes

At the 6 week mark this baby the heart rate was only 99. We went back a week later and it was much better. I'm coming up on 30 weeks now. If your Dr isn't worried then I would try to worry less, could be that bubs heart only just started ticking. Try to relax, stressing won't help. Good luck!

Try not to google. Seriously, it does your head in. If your OB was at all concerned they would have you back in earlier. If it's really keeping you up at night, call the office and beg to be seen for another scan next week, let them know you're really anxious and it's affecting you etc. I know my OB was happy for me to come in weekly if I wanted just for a quick 2 min scan in those early weeks, just to ease my anxiety (as had previous mc).

The dates and size are an estimate only. At 6 weeks my OB suggested bub was only measuring 5 weeks, and exactly one week later it had caught up and was measuring 7. There is a huge margin for error just a mm either way so try not to compare to other 6 week bubs etc, not everything happens at the same time for every baby and it's highly likely your little ones heart has only just started beating x

Thank you everyone! I know I just need to calm down and trust my OB. He wasn't even going to bother measuring it as he said it was early. It was only because I asked...and I wish I hadn't!

I am going to stay away from google now

Hi Patience. Just wanted to give u some reassurance. I had my first scan with dd4 at 6 weeks and 5 days. Her HR was 89. I was really worried but like you my HCG was rising and really good figures. My next scan 10 days later her HR had risen to 144. I think at the first scan her heart had just started to beat and that is why it was so low? Xx
