Default 5mth old chilled baby suddenly difficult :(

    Hello brains trust,

DD1 has turned 5mths today and I feel like I have a different baby. Everyone has commented for the whole duration since birth what a chilled and relaxed Bub she is - until the last two weeks!

Just at the start of the Wonder Weeks Leap 4 back in early Oct she predictably got bad with sleep and then the 4mth sleep regression hit after that. Poor sleep had always been her thing but her mood and ability to nap in the day had always been consistent. I now have a baby that will regularly cry, wakes up looking tired, takes ages to get down for a nap and is overall pretty stressful to be around.

It's making me very tense and anxious about being out in the car or pram as I have no idea when she'll crack it ๐Ÿ˜ž

Any ideas why this is happening? She's like a completely different baby.

She's exclusively breastfed and I plan to start solids at 6mths.

    Thanks in advance.

Has she got an ear infection? First rule out any medical issues.

If my kids are grumpy for no apparent reason I take them for a walk outside in the evening. In fact I'm heading out in 15min as all my three are grumpy today.

I find that being outside calms my three down. We just stroll along and I can take a deep breath.

    Hi.. Thx for your reply.
We go out every afternoon without fail for my sanity!

How will the doc tell if it's an ear infection? I did take her to the pool last week for the first time ever..?

She'll just scream for no reason. Eg. Woke up from nap in pram, perfectly fine for 15 mins.. Took her to parents room to offer a feed, not interested, I wheeled the pram into the loo and bam! Screams.. Wtf?! ๐Ÿ˜ž

I always found when my DS was little that a dramatic change in behaviour was usually an ear infection. He would be very screamy- particularly when you went to lay him down. He never had a temperature or other tell tale signs of ear infections.

The dr will just check in his ears for redness/fluid/inflammation. Once treated, DS would become the cool kid again.

Coincidentally, His ear infections started when we started swimming lessons at 6 months.

    Best wishes!

Maybe bub is hungry? Some bubs are ready for solids before 6 months. My bubs starts catnapping around 4ish months and didn't stop until after 5ish months when they were ratings more solids.

    Hi @VicPark

She's always slept for 45 mins every hour and half. Apart from today when she did an hour and 40 mins..

45 min day naps aren't long enough for a 5 month old. Bub is probably tired. Can you try stretching out the awake time to 2 hours? Bub might sleep longer?

She did one hour and 40 nap this afternoon all by herself.. Trouble is that if I leave it longer she gets overtired and is harder to put down
