Morning ladies quick question - how did everyone feel after egg collection? My lower abdomen all the way to under my boobs feels really tight inside. I'm not bloated at all but it hurts in my stomach to go to the toilet and walk. Is this normal? I had EPU on Thursday morning

I felt awful like that for about 3 days. It got a little better each day

Oh wow I'm just reading everyone's comments about strong smells... I've smelt a lot strong things since my ET. I've been using mario bedescu drying lotion which smells and contains calamine (I googled and apparently in small doses is OK during pregnancy but dunno about during implantation) plus on top of that at work I've been using permanent markers, liquid paper, super glue, and I'm pretty sure I've been smelling petrol even though I haven't filled up. I love these strong smells and so I don't block my nose when it's around. I'm getting a bit worried now...

Hi ladies! I've been following along with all your posts and am learning so much about the IVF process which is great

Please tell me if this is the wrong place to post this, but I'm hoping some of you may be able to help me? DH and I have been ttc for 15mths now and haven't fallen pg once. Some would probably say 15mths is nothing but it feels like an eternity to us! We've seen a FS who says IVF is the next step because all of our tests have some back clear (apart from DH morphology 26%).

I am struggling with the concept of not being able to conceive naturally and my question to you ladies is, how did you know when it was time to move to medical intervention? I just don't know if I'm ready for the emotional roller coaster!

Hi @MusicalMumma, this is my first round of IVF (day 8) and I was trying for approx 2 years with no success after previous miscarriages. I must say I was terrified of the thought of IVF but so far it has not been as bad as I thought it would be. My advice to you is "there will never be a right time" and you just have to have trust in your fertility specialist. Also the longer you wait the less fertile you become as each year the quality & quantity of your eggs dramatically reduces especially after 35yo, so the longer you put it off the harder it may be. I put it off for a long time due to fear and thought I could fall pregnant naturally too but looking back I wish I hadn't now. All you can do is follow the advice of your specialist and go with your gut. Best wishes to you on your journey xx

Just a quick update. Had my first scan today (day 8) and I only have 4 follicles between 6 - 9mm so far so have to go back for another scan on Wednesday. I also have a haemorrhagic cyst which the nurse said was fine. Has anyone else had this before? I'm feeling a little disappointed as I thought I would get more follicles given the high dose of Puregon I am on (450). Wish my ovaries luck to grow some nice healthy eggs over the next few days!

    Hi musical mumma

My hubby and I tried for around a year with no success. We basically got impatient and went to the doctor, all tests were clear and no cause was given as to why it hadn't happened so we decided just to go straight to IVF. We were lucky enough to be in the position financially at the time too which made a difference.

I also didn't find the process astough as anticipated. Overwhelming at times yes but much smoother than expected.

We have a nearly 3 year old daughter so no negatives from my end for getting started when we did.

Hi, I agreed with the other ladies, it's really not as bad as we think at the begining. Uncomfortable and time consuming yes, but it's nothing us strong ladies can't handle. Hubby and I actively tried for 14 cycles over a 2 year period then decided to get things checked out. Turns out I had endometriosis and one blocked tube while hubby had low morphology. The sooner you guys can get checked out the more info you'll have on your situation. Also age is a big thing when it comes to egg quality. Im 30 and my FS said I may be young but our bodies are getting older and it affects our egg quality dramatically. I'm glad she was honest with me about the age thing it helped us to decide to start straight away. Best of luck with your decision, let us know what you decide

Thanks for your replies @razzyBear and @Meems. It's great to hear it's not as scary as it sounds. I guess the main thing is I don't want any regrets. We've already put off starting IVF by 6mths and it hasn't got us anywhere, so I think it's time to bite the bullet. FS appointment is on wed
