I dont know about the 'herbalist' or 'naturopath', but a nurse SHOULD have a solid unserstanding of science. I just fail to unserstand how anyone who knows and unserstands the science behind vaxxing could be against it. It has been proven many times over to be both safe and effective. Ita like me (a teacher) saying that letters/ the alphabet are not an important component of learning to read. Or words are not important for learning to write. Its just ludicrous, and my year 12 highschool scientific understanding SHOULD be less than a nurses.

I know several anti vaxxers online, that go on about the big pharma company conspiracies, how GP's are getting kick backs from pushing the drugs used to vax...... then will run to the Dr the moment their child has an ear infection for AB's or pop a Zoloft for PND. Ironically these classes of drug are not only produced by these same evil pharma companies, they are just as wide spread and probably make them more $$$ than the vaccines as anti depressants and AB's are ongoing meds through a life time.

It does not surprise me at all that a naturopath was anti-vax, I'd be surprised to meet a naturopath that was pro-vax.
I wasn't aware of that. Private health funds rebate for naturopathy and some IVF clinics recommend acupuncture as part of their protocol.

I've accessed naturopathy and acupuncture in the past and am quite open minded to it.

Anyway, their story is not my story I was just using them as a point that not all anti vaxers are uneducated.

My old boss is an endocrinologist her DH is also a senior medical specialist. She believes vaccines cause autism. She also spouted some stuff to me about big pharma. All kinds of supposedly intelligent and educated people believe this crap. Having worked in communicable disease control I find vax conversations very difficult because I'm so passionate about it.
The thing that gets me is there are literally billions of people in the world who would kill to have access to free vaccination to stop them or their children dying of preventable diseases. Unlike us they see people dying from these diseases all the time. And here we are in a country where people think they know better than the mountain of evidence supporting vaccination and put themselves and others at risk. Shameful.
As to the no vax no play well it's not really accurate it's more like no vax no cash they can still go and put others at risk if they have the financial means. If my DD had medical problems preventing vaccination then I would be frankly terrified.

The No Jab No Pay is one part, some of the states are passing No Jab No Play legislation which means child care, kindy and family day care can refuse enrolment for unvaccinated children.

I'm also wary of the government taking away genuine informed consent, if you are coerced with financial means and lack of access to child care, you are not genuinely freely consenting to a medical intervention.
i find that odd that people working in the health sector being dead against vaccines when they'd see every reason to vaccinate and none not too. Working with the older generation who have serious disability due to polio which is making a comeback now, watching babies die of pertussis, people getting suicidal over pain of shingles the list goes on. It is their choice I guess but most hospitals I've worked in especially when with kids or immunocompromised patients it was basically compulsory especially in the public sector you are there to protect others you get vaccinated or provide medical evidence why you can't or they can't have you work there. Furthermore as nurses we work with some nasty diseases and germs I wouldn't want to bring home myself or as a carrier to my baby or unborn baby, you can advoate to keep away from infectious patients because you are pregnant or have small children not because you aren't vaccinated thats your own bad luck.

@gingermillie there are two separate legislations....no vax no pay is the federal legislation just passed that stops CCB and CCR and some of the family tax payments as of January.
No vax no play is state based legislation, QLD has just passed this. You can ask your day care /kindy if they will be enforcing it or not, it's voluntary.

Thanks for this - I'm in SA I don't think we have the no vax no play here but I'll check. Luckily my DD hasn't shown any issues with vax so far so she'll be fully vaccinated 😀

I think it's just Vic, NSW and QLD that have or are implementing no jab no play next year. I'm not sure if the other states are moving towards it or not.

It's federal legislation so I would imagine it's all states
